Creamy tube warmth with great tone tweakability!

The Peavey Windsor Half Stack includes the Windsor Tube Amp Head and the Windsor 4x12 Speaker Cabinet. The Windsor Amp Head employs three 12AX7 preamp tubes and four EL34 power-amp tubes in a single-channel configuration to deliver 100W of the sound of rock's golden era with exclusive Peavey technology and reliability. While most amplifiers leave the EQ to the preamp section, the Windsor features Peavey's patented Presence and Resonance controls, which adjust speaker damping from tight to loose in the high and low frequency ranges, respectively. The Windsor also offers Peavey's patented Texture™ circuitry for adjusting the response characteristics from modern Class A/B push-pull to vintage Class A sounds. The Texture control provides incremental adjustment for an incredible range of tone texturing and coloring. The Windsor also features a footswitchable gain boost, three-band rotary EQ on the preamp, master volume, footswitchable effects loop and high and low inputs. The Windsor 4x12 Speaker Cab is perfect for delivering the classic British tones of the all-tube Windsor guitar head. 4-12" Supreme XL speakers handle up to 300W power.

This thing owns

I got the peavey amp acouple days ago and have been playing it nonstop.when i first plugged in the crisp clean sounds with a touch of distortion blew me away. It is a tube amp so the sound is always amazing. And with the twist of a few knobs your right into some heavy fuzz. hook up a Wha-Wha and have a swing at that. overall the Peavy Windsor is an amazing amp for some Rock or maybe a classic rock sound even though you can get it up to a sick metallica sound.

Great For The Price

This amp is just about the best value you may ever find for a 100% tube amp. It's basically a poor man's JCM800, but without the poor man's tone. Single channel...no problem this amp just plain rocks!

Windsor, old school rock for a great price!

I have had the Windsor for 3 days (bought it from Guitar Center), I did 2 gigs with it. I am happy with it. For the price it is a great amp. I had a JCM 800 back in the day, and I think this amp sounds similar. I got a good sound out of it by using the texture control turning it to the left for the high gain stuff without overpowering my band mates. When I wanted clean I turned down the pre amp volume and turned the texture all the way to the right and it fattened up the clean sound. I like a little grit on my clean anyway . I find a lot of clean channels useless because they are too clean. I use the resonance sparingly (on 3 or 4). I notice the less stuff you put through the loop the better it sounds. I use a sparkle drive and cry baby on the front end. The JCM 800 had little flaws in the sound, overtones and such, it was also in the shop several times, even when it was fairly new. But plugging into the Windsor is like going home! Ray

Amazing

I was at guitar center today looking for a new guitar, and I plugged a Gibson Les Paul Standard in, and it sang to me, a sweet song called "buy me today". At first I thought the amp was non functional, then I realized it was a tube-er and took a minute to heat up. Once it was up, It was marvelous and If I had the money, and the money to replace the tubes whenever I needed to, I would have said I really don't need a new guitar, and bought this baby.
