Legendary synth designer Tom Oberheim has returned, along with a current rendition of his classic SEM (Synthesizer Expander Module). The SEM, Tom’s first synthesizer, was well loved for its beautiful sound and just the right combination of synthesis modules and patching in a compact, portable package. In fact it was so revered that people requested Tom make the SEM again, so he did. Consisting of a 100% analog signal path through two oscillators, two envelope generators, one LPF and one filter, the SEM is an exceptionally massive sound design module.

The SEM Patchpanel module incorporates 33 patch points with basic connections for one-volt-per-octave VCO control voltage and a standard 0 to +5 volt gate signal. This particular version however does not implement MIDI CV control, but there are two other versions of the SEM available that do. Tom’s synths have been used on award-winning records and in major motion picture scores for decades, and now you can own this classic, reborn for today’s studio.
