I bought this for my wife's keyboard station and while I wasn't really impressed to any big extent it does seem adequate for what it is and I like the storage feature of it. The "assembly" of the legs was easy and quick and they are nice and sturdy so far. The hinge feature of the lid doesn't really work as intended because it seems you can't adjust the tension to the point that it stays half way open on it's own per the instructions. It either slams shut or is hard to open and won't stay anywhere in between unfortunately. The hinge along the back of the lid looks as if it will do it's job well for some time and not be an issue as does the padding, covering, and pretty much everything else. One thing that did trouble us right off the bat was that two screws fell out when we pulled it from the box but after a VERY thorough inspection of every spot on the product it appears they came from some other bench because there are none missing anywhere. Weird stuff but hopefully it works as well for us as it looks.

I bought this in a box. I opened the bench storage compartment to remove the legs for assembly. The lid worked hard, I think because the tension screws were too tight. Then I noticed the screws in the corner brackets pulling out of the wood. So that was enough for me -- the wood was too soft to hold the screws and I returned it and bought another bench without a storage compartment.

Bench for digital piano-black

By Cordelia Peters

from Enola, PA

Comments about On-Stage Stands KB8902 Flip-Top Keyboard Bench:

This bench is easy to assemble and is sturdy. It does not wobble. There is a fair amount of room for storing music, but not as much a regular size piano bench. The padded cushion is comfortable. On the minus side, I wasn't able to order one to match the wood on the keyboard stand and there was a ding on one of the side panels and a chip out of one of the legs. A little black paint will cover it, but it shouldnt' be that way right out of the box. It's too much of a hassle to return it, and who knows how the next one will be.

Don't know why I thought it would be any different...

By ELISABETH BACON

from Beaverton, Oregon

Comments about On-Stage Stands KB8902 Flip-Top Keyboard Bench:

I'm stubborn, that's why. I read all of the reviews and STILL decided to take a gamble on this bench because it looked nice. It was missing half of the screws for the hinge top, and yes, the other nuts and bolts were rolling around free in the box just like another review said. Half of the hinge top wasn't even attached to the 'wood'. I returned it the next day. Made in China. Don't take a gamble that your experience will be any different, it's not worth it.

Returned

By Kit Lemasters

from Florissant, Colorado

Comments about On-Stage Stands KB8902 Flip-Top Keyboard Bench:

I bought this in the box and realized when I got home how cheaply made it is. The "wood" isn't solid or sturdy, and there is basically paper stapled underneath the seat and bottom. There is plenty of cushion in the seat and good space in the storage compartment, but it looks flimsy overall. Took it back.

Open the box BEFORE you purchase

By lothian mcadam

from cary, nc

Comments about On-Stage Stands KB8902 Flip-Top Keyboard Bench:

This bench provides function, though at minimal quality. The materials are mediocre: partical board wood and thin-gauge hardware. We are using it; however, I predict it will fail in some fashion under normal use. Open the box and inspect all the pieces BEFORE you purchase. The bench seems packaged with cosmetic defects, as other reviews have noted. We opened five boxes before we found ONE that was free of some degree of damage: a cut in the seat; missing hardware; or superficial damage to the finish. Guitar Center carries name-brand instruments of exceptional quality--the bulk of its inventory, in fact. It is rediculous that customers must be distracted by shoddy accessory products such as this.

Hinge stopped working within a week

By S

from Tampa, FL

Comments about On-Stage Stands KB8902 Flip-Top Keyboard Bench:

Well, it's sturdy and looks fine. Bought it so I could store music books inside. Hinge stopped working within a week...can only open it about 2 inches now and have to squeeze books in and out. Opening mechanism is poorly made. My husband is going to look into getting new hinges at home depot. Should have spent a little extra on a more expensive model...

Comments about On-Stage Stands KB8902 Flip-Top Keyboard Bench:

Plastic non marking floor glides, well balanced not tippy , light weight , requires 14mm wrench if I recall to put legs on would have been nice if supplied with cheap disposable wrench to keep stored within bench storage incase legs got loose , or even better use allen head cap screws with allen key tool for assembly.
