I bought this stand for a Fender Acoustasonic to be used around the house. The arms fold out at an angle greater than 90 degees (as noted by other reviewers), so the amp can be rocked back and forth. I drilled and tapped one of the crosspieces on the bottom and installed an adjusment screw with a jam nut and plastic cap on each side. I used the screws to adjust the bottom support arm to a 90 degree angle with the top support arm. Now the amp feels very solid in position. If interested, I used 1/4-20 x 1-1/4" screws that go in from the bottom. You can see the screws in the attached image.

This amp stand might be OK for a very small practice amp. I have a Peavey TKO 65 amp (only about 50lbs) and it doesn't sit very well on this stand. It opens to more than 90* which to me doesn't feel very sturdy. I would definitely pay $10 more and get the Proline amp stand.

great little stand

Comments about On-Stage Stands Folding Tiltback Amp Stand:

I just received this in the mail a couple of days ago and I used it on stage. It has a low profile, which is good for the ear, sits lower to the floor so you don't stretch your cables in the air if you have a pedal board. Its super compact and fits well in my cable bag. My other amp stand sits too high and I have to struggle to hear the right tones. This is perfect for any venue or home/studio. You won't be disappointed Buy one or 2, they're small.

Does its job -- mostly

Comments about On-Stage Stands Folding Tiltback Amp Stand:

It's amazing to me that the engineers who designed this thing could not get the supporting arms to open to a 90-degree angle. Come on, guys, this is not the space shuttle! The amp still rests OK, but will wobble about a quarter inch if you apply pressure in the right spot. I plan to insert a shim to solve this problem. Guitar Center's "specs" are basically useless if you're trying to figure out if you should buy this one or the bigger one. Who cares what its dimensions are collapsed? And, you can't measure it in your local store because your local store probably doesn't carry it, like mine! So, here are the important measurements when it's actually supporting an amp: Back support length: 13 1/2 inches Bottom support length: 7 3/4 inches Width support: 12 inches Angle of inclination: about 35 degrees To determine if the cross member on the back support interferes with your amp's plugs: Cross member's height on back support: 11 inches Cross member's width: 1 inch I have a Marshall AS50R and it fits fine. The stand seems to be solidly built. The rubber feet are attached with recessed screws, so it looks like they fixed the problem of them falling off that a previous reviewer observed.

great value

Comments about On-Stage Stands Folding Tiltback Amp Stand:

completely flat when folded (yay) nice sturdy layout on the ground doesn't wiggle or rattle no worries about the amp falling over I might buy another just in case this one breaks apart. The way it's build, I'd expect at least 3 years of hard gigging out of it before it gets loose.

Nice Little Stand

By aj

from Southern Man

Comments about On-Stage Stands Folding Tiltback Amp Stand:

Not a bad stand at all. Sits a little too close to the floor, but I guess I should of figured that out from the pics. However, the improvement in the sound and tone of the amp is very well worth any other deficits you might find. Just be sure to turn each half of the amp supports in the right direction because they have to be against the stops - no adjustability in the angle because you can't tighten any screw tight enough folded in the other direction to hold any adjustments to the angle. Amazing how the tilt can affect the sound you hear though; it takes away any muddiness from carpet, or it will eliminate a lot of early reflections off of a hard floor and an overly bright sound. Just sit a pair of amps side by side, adjusted the same way (same amps, such as in stereo rigs,) and listen to the difference, or compare your single amp both on and off the stand, and listen to the difference - you will be amazed if you've never used one before. Of course, any angled stand will give those benefits. This one does if fairley economically though, but is best suited for smaller combos or cabs. Anything larger that a 30 watt solid-state amp would do much better on the larger stand for a couple of bucks more. Heavier tube amps should be well-placed on the stand to ensure stability. Best for sitting practice or jams, but too low for gigs, because you risk banging your guitar against the amp while adjusting your sound, imho. Great for balancing what your ear hears between a miked amp, monitors, and any recordings made. Why do we angle monitors in the first place? Like I said, a nice little stand. You get what you pay for, and the amp doesn't have far to fall if you or the stand makes a mistake.

Inexpensive...

By Alex

from bethesda, MD

Comments about On-Stage Stands Folding Tiltback Amp Stand:

Let me begin by saying I am using this stand now, and it works great for what I need it to do, namely to hold my practice amp pointed up while it stays in my room. It needed some modification to do this effectively though. The arms fold out more than 90 degrees, so I had to use a shim underneath the bottom arms to get them angled up higher. Also, the little stoppers the stand rests on don't stay in at all, but I don't move the amp so it is just "resting" on them. If I lift the stand up they fall out. Now that it's shimmed and in a spot where I like it, it works great, no rattle and the amp sounds beautiful from it. BTW I've got a Princeton and the size is just right.

Comments about On-Stage Stands Folding Tiltback Amp Stand:

This stand comes in two different sizes - this is the smaller of the two, and works perfectly for my Fender Princeton Reverb and Tweed Harvard . I use the larger version with my Vibrolux and Deluxe Reverbs. I've been looking for a sturdy, functional stand like this for a long time - my search is over...YAY!!!

    Solid construction but not perfect.

    By Kevin Taylor

    from Wisconsin

Comments about On-Stage Stands Folding Tiltback Amp Stand:

The stand is well made, with a very good finish and good welds. The amp I am using is a Fender Super Champ XD so this should fit it well. But it does not.the stand does not support the amp well at the bottom and the back. It appears that the supports are not ninety degrees to one another and therefore the amp rocks back and forth.I tried to tighten both bolts at the pivot points to no avail. Smaller amps may work with this amp stand. All in all It is still a good value for the price.

    Good Stand, But

    By Gregory H

    from Delmar, NY

Comments about On-Stage Stands Folding Tiltback Amp Stand:

I use this for an Acoustic B20 Bass Amp. As it is not a very powerful amp the sound used to go under me making it harder to hear the actual tone of my bass. This stand points the speaker right at my ears, making adjustments to tone and volume a whole lot easier. I would recommend the larger model for anything bigger than a practice amp.

Comments about On-Stage Stands Folding Tiltback Amp Stand:

Just like the description states, well constructed and folds up easily. Great for smaller amps. Small footprint doesn't take up a lot of floor space either. I highly recommend for light-medium duty.

    Good for the $

    By Quincy Follweiler

    from Maryville TN.

Comments about On-Stage Stands Folding Tiltback Amp Stand:

Recently used a gift card to purchase this stand. It is sturdy and does what it's supposed to do. Make sure you measure the back of your amp if you have an open back. The back brace may not reach to the top back to support your amp. There are no adjustments to extend the back brace. It is as described and will work great for closed back amps with no problem. Flattens out nicely for storage or moving.

    By CHRIS

Comments about On-Stage Stands Folding Tiltback Amp Stand:

I use this stand with my small amps, such as the Fender Pro Jr. Fits them perfectly. Also discovered that it works great for holding a small PA speakers such as the Peavey PR10 and PR12 at the perfect angle to be used as a monitor!

Nice stand but you will need to add two bolts to raise the seat height and correct the 45 degree angle so the amps sits secure with no wobble.

This would be 100% better if it had wheels. My amps controls are on the top and when the amp is tilted back, the controls are out of view. If the stand had wheels, you could easily slide the amp around to set the controls then slide it back into position for playing.
