2 + 2 Channel control mixer with full TRAKTOR integration.

Native Instruments has taken the incredible performance power from their line of TRAKTOR DJ controllers, and have integrated that extensive knowledge into their very first 2-channel DJ mixer and controller. Enter in the world of the TRAKTOR Z2 2+2 Control Mixer. Built tough for pro club use, the Z2 excels both as a state-of-the-art club mixer alongside turntables and CDJs, and as the hub of an advanced setup of Remix Decks and controllers.

All-new Macro FX and Flux Mode in the latest TRAKTOR software expand your creative arsenal. And the heavy metal, standard installation-height chassis, sturdy RGB control buttons, and Innofaders assure rock-solid dependability.

Combining the best of all that's come before it, TRAKTOR KONTROL Z2 takes a powerful two-channel stand-alone mixer, adds an additional two channels for Remix Decks, puts TRAKTOR SCRATCH PRO 2 in the package and rolls it out in luxurious style.

The ultra-stable, aircraft-grade aluminum chassis provides an intuitive layout instantly familiar to DJs, offering unprecedented sonic control. Throw in an integrated premium audio interface and dedicated TRAKTOR controls for cue points and Remix Decks and your options become infinite. Whatever your style, you've never had control like this before.

Based on industry-standard DJ mixer design, TRAKTOR KONTROL Z2's DJ-friendly layout is ergonomic and intuitive for uninterrupted flow from the moment you get your hands on it. A spacious control surface with faders, 3-band EQ section and dedicated chunky filter knob per channel - each in exactly the right place - gives you maximum control.

Additional TRAKTOR rotary encoders for Macro FX and Remix Decks are placed in the Kontrol Section alongside Flux Mode buttons for easy access, and multi-colored cue point trigger buttons allow you to jump through and re-edit your tracks in style.

A rock solid, aircraft-grade aluminum chassis takes build quality to a whole new level - even by TRAKTOR standards. Precision knobs, buttons, push encoders and Innofaders give you ultra-accurate control of your sets.

The Z2's premium, backlit buttons provide precise visual feedback in even the darkest clubs, and the built-in, powered USB hub adds connectivity for two add-on controllers such as TRAKTOR KONTROL F1 or X1, freeing up laptop ports.

TRAKTOR KONTROL Z2 is designed from the ground up for tight, club-ready sound. From low noise audio power supplies to premium 24-bit soundcard, Cirrus Logic converters, and pro XLR outputs, every component has been chosen so your sets hit with maximum impact.

  • Long Awaited Dream

As reviewed by RICHARD SMART on 11/20/2012

I've personally been waiting on a mixer like this since '07 from Native Instruments. To now have a flagship mixer made by NI with premium guts, I was sold at the teaser visual they displayed in September. I have played with this and taken it to a few gigs and have enjoyed the quality in sound! To have the less extent of setup that I've used with and NI audio 8 connected to my mackie d2 has given me more time to do sound/stage checks. The overall feel of the mixer is NICE. The quality of the knobs from touch to hands are smooth and accurate to your desired turn. The faders, both line and crossfader, are mini innofaders are scratch friendly! I've noticed that the crossfaders paint has worn off from mixing and scratching on it, but nevertheless the panels are removable like NI's Maschine mk2 for customizing so not a big deal to me. Overall I think this was an EXCELLENT choice by Native Instrument to produce a 2 channel with 2 remix decks in one mixer. From a rebel who took a liking to their introduction of Traktor Scratch with the Audio 8, I've have used traktor for my radio show, mixshow, and djing abroad. I've been waiting since 2007 for a dedicated mixer like this, and enjoy Native Instruments outcome.

  • BIG Disappointment

As reviewed by Danjah One on 11/16/2012

Day 1: This mixer is a tank! Definitely built to withstand the rigors of gigging, which is backed by it's weight (approx. 12lbs). The 15" depth of the mixer isn't a big deal-breaker, as the mixer gives a full-on Traktor user the ability to do everything Traktor has to offer without use of a computer keyboard. XLR, Phono (RCA), and 1/4" outputs make it impossible for the user to not be able to plug in. Have you ever seen a DJ scramble because their headphones don't have the 1/4" adapter and he/she doesn't have a spare? Not a problem anymore! The Z2 has both 1/4" and 1/8" headphone jacks on the front panel. The post-fader FX, macro FX, and Flux mode are KILLER--probably the highlights of this piece. This device can be used as a standalone for traditional vinyl or CD deck DJ's. You can even use this mixer with no decks and pull off a great gig. The Phone/Line switch is rock-solid. The biggest downer about the switch is when using it to quick-mute or transform while using Traktor, it throws the software into "Internal Mode". Removing the top is extremely easy, and won't void the warranty. Simply remove all of the knobs and fader caps, find the slots on the side of the control panel frame outside of the crossfader, and pull up. That simple! The crossfader is featherlight. You can blow it across from one side to the other in one breath. The knobs and faders need immediate calibration after software installation (software is only available via download--no more install disks). Even after calibration, the crossfader is off-center. The "open" from right-to-left is at about 1mm, while from left-to-right is at about 2mm. Not a good look for a turntablist. Innofaders "should" make the Z2 best-in-class, but considering the Innofader Pro replacements are available (and were available during manufacturing), it would've seemed to be a no-brainer to include them in the mixer instead of having to buy them after-the-fact. Great job of cheating your loyal customers, NI. Day 2: I decided to take the Z2 on a road test--a small house gig using just one Technics SL-DZ1200 and a Windows 8-powered notebook with 2.6Ghz dual-core processor and 8GB of RAM. After optimizing my processor, RAM, power consumption, and the software to prevent drop-outs and lock-ups ("freezing"), I started up the 3-hour affair. After only 15 minutes, I experienced a hard-freeze of the software and processor. I still had full control of the channel faders. If I hadn't been using FX earlier in the gig, this would've meant disaster. Luckily, as I'm reaching to kill the software, the music picks up where it should have. No more issues after that. I also noticed that Traktor Scratch Pro 2.6 is sickeningly unresponsive to song searches while the software updates the files. I literally had to wait to see a break in activity to type one or two letters. 2.0.3 has been the best-performing version of Traktor. Even with the addition of features over time, the stability has gone from horrible (2.1.1) to acceptable (2.6), sans the afore-mentioned aspect. Day 4: Today, I saw rumblings of people who decided to wipe down their Z2 only to have paint peel from control panel cover. Not good for something that has only been on sale since November 1. True--it's only cosmetic, but if anyone spends $800+ on a single piece of gear, the paint should be the last thing anyone should have to worry about. After all, part of the Z2's appeal is aesthetics! Day 7: Considering how much of the mixer is programmable, I hit NI about the Phone/Line issue--both via forum, and online support form. After 6 days, I still have had no response to my issue. The "wait-and-see"/"take-it-as-it-is, and if-we-decide-to-fix-it-we-will. If-we-don't, oh-well" approach isn't going to cut it for me. Overview: The Z2 is loaded with great features that truly maximize the potential of how powerful Traktor can be. The functionality and reliability of the mixer leaves a lot to be desired. Quality-built product with very poor execution. Hopefully, NI gets it together and either improves this product fast, or makes it right on the second go-round. Who knows--after the issues Z2 owners are having right now, there may not even be another shot at a mixer for NI. This bad boy is going back to the shelf.

  • As expected from NI

As reviewed by Brian Holbrook on 12/26/2012

Wanted to move to a modular setup... long-time S2 and F1 user here... High quality build, immediate interface with Traktor. The mixer delivers all as expected... purchased with an X1 so still learning to work with what is a little redundancy between the two. Biggest changes-- Much more headroom than going straight from the S2. Similarly, sound quality seems better... no idea why that would be the case though. Having 1/4" and 1/8" headphone jacks is a plus. XLR outs to the mains (or RCA or 1/4") as you would expect from a pro mixer. Item meets all expectations that I had of it and exceeded my hopes for sound. Still learning to use scratch interfaces with other systems...for the money it is a great value--particularly if you are like me and run events with DJ's desiring differing mediums.
