I bought 2 of these because my single rack became too heavy to pick up(!)after I replaced my power amp with a Crest CA-9...which weighs 47 Lbs . So I split my rig into 2 cases to make it easier to transport. The musicians friend cases looked really good for the money, and so I ordered 2 from the mail-order site. They arrived quickly in perfect shape, and are really nice racks. They are well constructed and hold my heavy gear without a hitch. They stack nicely, and look good to boot.

I purchased the 2 space case. If you are thinking about buying one keep in mind these are very light duty. The wood is very thin. In the desciption it says "Welded rack frame contributes to overall strength of case". I was expecting to see a metal frame inside the case. What they are refering to is the aluminum trim. The case I received has a defect in the black finish on the top of the case. This tells me the quality controll is not great. They could have mounted the feet on that side so the defect was on the bottom, but didn't. I didn't want to go through the process of returning it and waiting for a replacement. The handle is mounted on the cover which makes me feel the my amp will go down a flight of stairs if the latches give out while I'm carrying it. Anyway, to sum it up This is an ok case for keeping out dust during storage. If you're looking for a case that will take a beating, spend a few more bucks on something heavy duty.

6-Space Rack

By Charles Harris

from Boston, MA

Bought this case as a temporary housing for some synthesizer equipment. It's an OK case, not great. When it gets heavy, the handles are plastic and have weird grooves so they can sort of cut into your hand, and for one-handed carry (the few blocks I have to walk to my practice space) that can get really painful really quickly. There are only rackmount rails on one side of the case, but that's ok if you just need it for something small. I would not recommend this for studio use, or really much other than as a utility or temporary solution. I'm not keeping it, that's for sure.

Good price to quality ratio, loaded up my Behringer BTR tuner and Bugera BVP5500 bass amp head and it's snug and in place. Couldn't be happier.

Good deal.

By David Wright

from San Diego, CA

The case overall is a good case and worth the price. First, the hardware in durable and great quality. On the 2 space case I got the handle was on the removable cover which is not like it was pictured in the ad. I would rather the handle be on the main body of the case. Also I wish they would have used a little thicker wood but for the price it is not a deal breaker. Over all great for the price.

4 Space Rack Flight Case

By William Ostrander

from Cheyenne, WY

Overall this is a good product. Fit and finish are excellent. The only down side I can give it is that the 4 space only comes with enough screws to mount 2 single space units. I would have hoped to have enough screws to mount 4 units since it has room for 4 units. I recommend this case but make sure you get extra screws if you are mounting 4.

DO NOT BUY THIS!

By James Davenport

from KCMO

This case is huge, it's nearly 3.5' deep and it only loads from one side. Mine came dirty and smudged from use even though I bought it new. That means someone else bought it and returned it. I returned mine. Half of the screw holes were stripped and one of the locks on the side would get stuck every other time you latched it down. The inside of the case looks horrible. There is glue and unfinished plywood. The screws were crooked and you could tell the workmanship was shotty just lookin' at it. This case is very low quality. If you're serious about your gear save up the extra fifty bucks and buy a good case.

Good Quality

By Brandon Johnson

from Philadelphia, PA

I was hesitant to buy this rack because of some negative comments in some reviews. However, I was surprised because the quality was much better than I expected. These racks are heavy and look good. Mine had no defects. The walls are thin, but every corner and seam is wrapped in heavy aluminum. These things have more metal on them than Rob Halford. You would probably need a direct hit by a sharp object in the middle of one of the sides to damage your equipment. Ultimately I returned mine because it was far deeper than I needed, but it had nothing to do with the quality.

Best Bang for the Bucks

By STEVE BRONSON

from Detroit, MI

I own two of the 2 space racks, and one each of the four and six space racks. I started out 5 years ago with the six space rack with a 2 space 1100w power amp, sound modules and a sub-mixer. It held up better than my back did, so I've moved and added amps into the 2 and 4 space racks to lighten up what I used to call the "widow-maker". Be smart in how you mount your gear (heavy stuff on the bottom). I did, and would recommend, adding angle brackets between the bottom of the case and the rear of any amp to so it's supported in the back and not just hanging off the front mounting rails. These cases are both functional and good-looking and will hold up to constant gigging, providing you are moving your gear yourself (not your roid raged roadie).

Light Duty

By Danny

from Denver, CO

I bought this case second hand but essentially unused. It is what it is....fiberboard. It will keep your gear housed, but protected? not so much. The corners are as pictured...a single angle cap and rivet! Not all that sturdy. Still, for the weekend gig, housing in a practice space, etc., it is a case and better than nothing. For the road, just be aware.
