  • Small modifications needed but well worth the small effort

As reviewed by Ben on 9/26/2010

You may have seen other reviews on this item that slam the product because the violin bass does not fit into the case. Although this is true, it only takes about fifteen minutes to make a few adjustments and the bass will fit perfectly. I have to admit, I was skeptical about purchasing this case after I read this complaint on several different web sites. But for such a low price, I thought I would give it a try. I own a Hofner Violin Bass, and sure enough, when my case arrived it would not close when the bass was in the case. All I had to do was remove the 4 screws from the center piece that holds the bottom section of the neck of the bass (where it attaches to the body), and cut about an inch or so off the bottom. This center piece was too high preventing the lid from shutting. I made sure I left extra fabric to guarantee that I covered the bottom cut and bam - the bass now fits. I have to admit that you would think a case that is advertised to fit the violin bass would in fact fit, but as I mentioned earlier, for the price it was a small inconvenience. I gave it 4 out of 5 stars because it needed some personal touches in order for it to fit; otherwise, the case is great.

  • Not for Hofner

As reviewed by Constantine Mouzakis on 8/31/2010

This case is supposed to fit the Hofner Violin Base, however it does not. Since this was the second case I had ordered with the first returned back for the same reason and because I needed a case for my Hofner I decided to have this case modified. So I took it to a furniture repair shop and they fixed it (only took 10 minutes and $10). So my Hofner fiits nicelly within it. Other than that this case for the price is good.

  • 2 min configuring the case to fit your Viola

As reviewed by remigio holmes on 3/29/2013

I give this case 4 3/4 stars. The only reason not 5 stars is because it takes a little configuring to make it fit the Viola bass you have(NBD)and the fact that in the product description this fact is never mentioned. I have the Epiphone Viola bass so I mesured the case to fit this bass. It only takes a person that is 2% smarter then the case and someone with a super basic knowledge of tools and their uses, so anyone with a standard philips screwdriver and a hacksaw blade or a serrated knife can make the ajustments needed to fit any Viola bass. One shot is all someone gets before this case is renderd just about useless. First DO NOT rip the neck support out, if you look at the case the'er four(4) screws holding the neck support in the case(2% smarter). Remove the screws take out the neck support and cut in a straight line across the bottom of the neck support however much is determined need to be cut off to fit the Viola bass owned, I have the Epiphone model so I removed just over 1/2 inch. Place the neck support back in to the case screw it back in place and it's done. This is very simple to do, I could go into further detail, but I don't want to insult anyone. A four(4) year old could make this ajustment to the case without even reading this review, it's all commonsense.
