And with Volume, Tone and Gain controls, you can shape and add texture to your Talk Box voice for maximum impact. The MXR M222 came delivered to my door 4 days after I ordered it.* Wow, that was fast! I took it to band practice that night literally out of the box... It worked great! I had never even tried a talk box before, and felt confident from the first note (granted I have a long way to go with Frampton-like 'talking'). Pretty easy to use. The controls are basic and are all you need to get a good sound. When practicing at home, you don't necessarily need a mic as you can hear it right through your noggin. The big draw for me was 'no amp required'. It has its own driver, so is self-contained. Solid build too. I am giving it 4-stars only because the mic stand clip to hold the tube in place comes loose rather easily. This can be remedied with duct tape or whatever. The unit itself is otherwise great in every way.
*A note about Guitar Center service. It is excellent! I first pursued the M222 through Amazon instead, who outsourced the order to Tin Music. I received a fulfillment message and everything, but then got an e-mail 4 days later saying they didn't have it in stock. WTF? They followed up with a bunch of lame excuses and lies about how their supplier let them down, blah, blah, blah... Anyway, in the same time Amazon told me they couldn't deliver (4 days, mind you), Guitar Center was able to get it to my door, and for $10 less in price! I would recommend staying away from Amazon for music gear. They sell books well, but not music gear!
