I fully did not intend to purchase a guitar when I went in to GC, but after playing this thing (the last one I touched, ironically) I bought it immediately, figuring that they must have mistakenly put the wrong price tag on it. I've been playing for years and this one was among the best of the bunch in terms of playability and intonation, and could more than hold its own against hand-crafted guitars costing $3,000 and up. It has an immediate, almost piano-like attack and a bright, ringing sustain. When I got it home, I at first noticed some annoying buzz which I attributed to the low action causing notes to "fret out"; however, it turns out that this was just the piezo tone/volume control rattling in its mount, which was easily fixed by tightening the mounting screws. The best thing about this guitar is that it has a truss rod (unusual and possibly even unnecessary on a nylon string classical guitar) which allows for an ultra-flat radius fretboard and "D" shaped neck (think of Ibanez electric guitars), all of which makes playing it almost effortless.

I recently began playing classical guitar and wanted an entry level guitar. This seemed perfectly in my price range and I was hopeful it would be of good enough build to last me a few years. I read the few reviews on here and was satisfied with the other reviewer's satisfaction. I tested the floor model out at the store and continued to be satisfied. After buying a fresh one in the box, I took it home to start practicing. Almost immediately I noticed an awful fret buzz located in the first 3 frets on nearly every string. Yes, it's a cheap guitar, but that doesn't mean it should make this unappealing noise on so many ftrets - if you're a musician with any skill level, you will notice it immediately and it will most likely bug the hell out of you. I exchanged it the next day for the same model, also fresh out of the box. Exact same problem. Yes, it's mass produced, and some "less-than-satisfactory" models will leave the factory, but having had 2 of these in a row have faulty string buzz on nearly every fret (therefore, unavoidable), and having adjusted the nut in the neck to try to alleviate the issue to no avail, I returned this subpar product to the store, shelled out an extra $100 and got the Maneul Rodriguez 11 Cabellero model and am unbelievably satisfied with the build and sound of the guitar. In conclusion, being a beginner to the classical guitar (though not to guitar in general), I wouldn't even recommend this guitar to another beginner - it's not worth the money, and it's absolutely worth the money to save up and spend a little more.

Comments about Lucero LC100CE Acoustic-Electric Cutaway Classical Guitar:

with the many grand kids around i do not need to worry about them being kids. it has been rough up and still plays the same. tuning new strings takes effort, i had to tune a few times a hr. with a tuner its not a issue. yet it did settle in after a week. sound is very mellow and action is average. one of my grandchildren is learning to play and prefers my guitar to her higher cost $$ steel string guitar. said it is easy on the fingers.

Comments about Lucero LC100CE Acoustic-Electric Cutaway Classical Guitar:

I went to Guitar Center specifically for this guitar. I had seen it on the website. To be honest I really need a flamenco but they are out of my price range but for my acoustic needs i prefer nylon. I don't play classically but I use a hybrid style of finger picking and flat picking that sounds better on nylon strings. For the price I was willing to make the sacrifices in differences between the classical and flamenco guitars. that proved to be a slight issue. I can deal with the strings being higher but i cant adjust well to the wider neck. all of this aside though because these things are my preferences it is a very attractive looking and sounding guitar. I did install an active preamp and changed the tuners which only made what was already good become a lot better and i intend on refreting to brass frets soon also just for appearance sake. my worst critic would be that the sixth string buzzes on the first two frets if I pluck to hard. it seems that bad or not quality freting is a concern with this model.

      REAL CLASSICAL SOUND FROM A PSSIVE-PRE :)

      By O, EL

Comments about Lucero LC100CE Acoustic-Electric Cutaway Classical Guitar:

I reached for this fabulous guitar for the benefit of the pre-amp which succesfully reciprocated the sounds of the classical guitar rather than reproducing "steel-string" sounds. I was marveled because it's the true sound of the classical through and through. I plugged in to a Backstar and a Roland Cube; both reproduced the excellent sounds whilst the added effects opened a WHOLE NEW VIBE never taking away form the classical feel. I FINALLY HAVE TRUE SOUND CLASSICAL GUITAR ON STEROIDS :)

Comments about Lucero LC100CE Acoustic-Electric Cutaway Classical Guitar:

With my review, please take into account that I got a discount for this guitar during a Christmas special. This was my first classical guitar, and therefore I was looking for something inexpensive. For the price, I believe that I got a great deal. With my expectations low from the start, this guitar really surprised me. Being my first classical, I really don't have much to compare it to, but I think the tone is decent for the price. The fretboard provides plenty of space between strings and the neck is nice and smooth. What really makes this guitar special though is the fact that it is electric too. The electric tone by itself is not amazing, but consistent with the price. Where this guitar shines is when I plug it into my Digitech RP500. It sounds very nice going through that and allows me to record into my computer with nice quality. So the real question is, would I buy it for full price? Yes, I would would feel good buying this at full price. If you're on a budget and need a classical with electric, then this is what I recommend.

      Excellent for the money

      By JOHN PUENTES

      from Geneseo, IL

Comments about Lucero LC100CE Acoustic-Electric Cutaway Classical Guitar:

I like to go into the GC acoustic room, pick out a half dozen guitars in a certain style and price range, and play them all till one rises to the top. It's usually pretty easy after going through them all a couple times to get down to a couple favorites. This guitar surprised me with its playability at such a low price. It easily outperformed other models that cost $100 more. If it is lacking anywhere, it would be toneL but what do you expect for $200. That's what I am giving it 5 stars: it is definitely a 5 star $200 guitar! Not to say you shouldn't try each instrument, as there may be a difference in quality form one to another (true even in expensive guitars), but Lucero has earned some respect from me for the quality of this instrument. I did not plan to buy a guitar that day, but for $200, and as nice as it played and sounded, I couldn't pass it up. I expect it will make a nice beginners guitar for one of my grandkids.

You Get What You Pay For

      By Terry M

      from Pinellas County, FL

Comments about Lucero LC100CE Acoustic-Electric Cutaway Classical Guitar:

So after researching I decided to purchase this guitar mostly because I needed a inexpensive classical that had a pickup for playing live. When the delivery guy handed it to me it felt like an empty box. It is a VERY light guitar. And as you can imagine this makes a huge difference in the sound quality. Little to no bass response. I've had other guitars with a "plywood" top but none sounded this thin. And the strings? Take them right off and throw them away. Don't waste any time trying to tune or set the intonation without new strings. So after stringing it up I plugged it in to my PA. The pickup was SO dissapointing. Two controls. One for tone. One for volume. The tone goes from mud to tin can with little in between. The volume has to be all the way up to for it to be heard and even that is not enough. I had to turn the PA gain on that channel to 9 to get it even with my other acoustic guitar's volume. Wow, what a let down. The ONLY saving grace of this guitar is the neck.

So don't make the mistake I made and order this because it was the cheapest acoustic/electric classical and remember the old adage is correct in this case...you get what you pay for.
