when we have been at a gig and had a bad cord usually no time to test. I have been using a volt/ohm meter and is time consuming testing. This tester is easy and fast to test. Great value for testing cords.
What else can I say, this unit works great for me. I can't believe I've gone years without one. Whenever I've had apparent cable problems, I just bought a new cable and put the old ones in a pile. Now I can test them all rather than just buying new ones. Thus far I've found 2 cables I thought were bad to be good and one I thought was good to be bad. You know how it goes at a gig. You have a problem and just replace the cable as fast as possible. Then at the end of the night, you forget which cable is the bad one. This fixes that problem. Simple and self explanatory. Hell, it even has a USB tester.
My Band plays out often and we started having trouble with our cables, I wanted to get a simple tester, so I could determine what cables needed to be replaced. The first one I purchased, the number one ( Yellow light ) would not work. No big deal, I returned it today got a new one started testing a few cables and it stopped working. The battery light was not going on, I through I just had a bad battery . I put a brand new battery in, nothing. I opened the battery compartment and looking inside, one the pins broke away from it's plastic frame! I will be returning this one and I'll purchase another cable tester that is better made. I really did want to spend a lot of money on a tester, however I need something I can rely on.
I've used this tester extensively. This is simply not built well enough to be useful for very long. It does the job as long as it can stay together. The nut for the 1/4" jacks are PLASTIC and will break after repeated use. Also, the fact that there's USB and not 3.5mm testing is simply puzzling. Not worth the (albeit low) price tag.
For the price I was a bit skeptical this would be worth purchasing. And was I wrong. This product is well built and well worth more than I paid for it. Testing cables with this box is simple, and saves a huge amount of time. Buy it!
