The POD HD500X is the ultimate tone palette, whether you want to re-create classics or go somewhere new with the ability to recall up to 512 totally different rigs-with changes to preamp type, power amp configuration, guitar type, polyphonic alt-tuning, effects chain and more. And thanks to HD technology, POD HD500X provides the depth, character and touch nuance to inspire your creativity in the studio or on stage. So if you've never experienced the flagship of the POD family, now's the time to check out POD HD500X.

World-Class HD Amps
From vintage classics to modern powerhouses, each HD amp delivers incredible sonic depth, character and touch nuance to inspire your playing-and that's just the beginning. Customize the tone and dynamic response of each HD amp with an extensive set of deep parameters including Sag, Bias, Bias Excursion, Hum and more.

100+ Studio and Stomp Effects
POD HD500X gives you over 100 studio and boutique stomp effects, so you can take your sound in any direction. Emulate classic signal chains with distortions, delays, mods, filters, reverbs and more, or discover entirely new sounds by mixing and matching up to eight simultaneous effects. You also get pro-grade, assignable footswitches and a built-in, die-cast expression pedal to control your effects in real time.

More Processing Power, More Creativity
With unparalleled flexibility and more processing power than anything in its class, POD HD500X is built for tone creation. To start, POD features dynamic DSP, so you have the freedom to stack the effects you want wherever you want them. Compared to its predecessor, POD HD500X lets you add even more effects to your signal chain. You can also mix and match HD amps, cabinets, mics and effects in virtually endless combinations. With 512 presets, you've got plenty of options for recalling your tones.

Sculpt Sounds with Dual Signal Paths
Legendary guitar tones are often created with more than one signal path. POD HD500X lets you create these complex, rich tones without the setup headaches of traditional dual-amp rigs. You can route your guitar through two completely independent paths-each with its own HD amp and effects chain, of course-or process two signals at once using the 1/4" guitar, 1/4" auxiliary or XLR mic inputs. So whether you want to configure elaborate signal chains for more traditional stereo amp setups, or create unique soundscapes, you've picked the right tool.

Assignable Footswitches and Rugged Construction
With POD HD500X, you get professional-grade footswitches with bright LED rings for at-a-glance operation. You can use them to enable or bypass amps and effects, or to select presets directly. If you want to get more creative, you can assign multiple amp and effects parameters to the expression pedal and morph between sounds-controlling up to 52 parameters in real time. The footswitches also control the built-in 48-second looper-an instrument unto itself. The bent-metal chassis and rugged construction make POD HD500X ideal for any stage.

Flexible I/O for Recording with Any DAW
POD HD500X provides all the connections you need for studio, stage and anywhere in between. You can plug in a mic to record vocals or acoustic instruments, track with your favorite HD amps, use the stereo FX loop to connect stompboxes and outboard effects, and much more. Connect to your computer via USB for multi-channel, studio-quality recording with your favorite DAW software-or tap into POD HD Edit, the free editor/librarian software that makes it easy to tweak and organize all your tones.

Command Center for Your Guitar Experience
It doesn't matter if you use a guitar amp, go straight to the PA or take advantage of a next-gen full-range guitar rig-POD HD500X is the ideal command center for any guitar setup. It's a fully assignable MIDI controller, so you can use the footswitches and expression pedal to control all kinds of external hardware and software-and it gets even better when you use POD HD500X with other Line 6 gear.

  • All that and a bag of chips!

As reviewed by Donald Avera on 8/22/2013

I walked into the local GC hoping to get either the Pod HD Desktop or the HD400. Well, all they had in stock was the newest 500X. It was 100 dollars more than I was hoping to spend and I was in a hurry to do some recording for a friend's project. In the past I recorded with a microphone jammed in the face of a low wattage amplifier but, that is STILL too lound in consideration for the people I now live with. Two years ago, I had an HD300 and sold it. I simply wasn't that impressed. Too difficult to navigate, not enough effect options, and no USB port for editing (only MIDI in and out ports...who still uses those?)....didn't sound all that great either (to my ears at least). Ok, so here I am shelling out a hundred more for something that I admittedly had reservations over, just to be able to do a little headache free recording. Any regrets? ABSOLUTELY NOT! some great sounding presets, USB connectivity, and INSANELY realistic souning guitar tones. I've finished several tracks and overdubs for 3 songs already, and gearing up for more. I'm pretty finicky about my guitar sound, and this makes my life dead simple. For the effects pedal junkies of the world out there....THIS UNIT TAKES THE CAKE! The M-class effects are out of this world, and you can do some crazy combinations and routings with them. I almost need a "for dummies" kind of instruction book just to understand how some of the heavily effected presets get configured to make my own. I'll settle for tweaking what's already there in the meantime. Worth every penny. Built like a tank. One final note: USE THE SOFTWARE for editing! You can scroll around the 4inch screen supplied but, why do that to yourself? It'll only make you crazy and hateful.

  • The HD500X is AMAZING!

As reviewed by Leonard Davis on 9/26/2013

The pedal is amazing... It has the best vintage guitar amps, hundreds of effects from Flanders to Chorus to Distortions, and so on. It doesn't have just one of each effect but multiples of the same effect, so that you can easily tailor your sound. The amount of effects and the ability to tweet them was one reason that I chose this effect pedal. One of the best features of this pedal is the free IOS or Windows software. The software has a lot of functionality and allows you to tweek the effects, modify the chain of effects and amps that make your sound plus it gives you the ability to record your self on a computer. No other pedal board that I looked at has as good of software available. With the software you don't need to constantly bend over, turn knobs, or navigate through the tiny screen and menus (basically it eliminates all of the pains).... And best of all the software is a free download. The pedal also has more looper memory than the others out there with 48 seconds. It also allows you to loop over your loop overs. So you can play multiple layers of loops. That is a nice feature as well. The last thing that I really like is the amount of memory or "storage banks" available. The other boards out there max out at 400 and this pedal hold 512. I haven't even come close to maxing out, but it just means that I will have plenty of space before I do. To sum it all up.... The amount of sounds, the excellent quality of the sounds, the features, the software available, and the ruggedness of the pedal make this pedal the best in its class (in my opinion). I am extremely happy with it so far. I give this pedal a perfect 10 on a scale of 1 to 10.

  • GREAT value! An update you want to get.

As reviewed by Robert Ashcraft on 4/18/2014

I have been using L6 Pods since their first iterations around 1999. I used a Pod Pro and then the XT Floorboard. I have gigged these everywhere and consistently get comments on my how great my guitar tones are. There have been several new version since the XT but I personally didn't hear enough difference to upgrade until the HD500X came out. The sounds seemed MUCH better. I auditioned the unit several times at GC and finally made the purchase. This unit is just killer - I am very pleased! The default patches are pretty good, but I spent about 10 hrs over the weekend downloading and tweaking sounds from the L6 CustomTone library. And I am even more blown away with the tones. This was a GREAT value - L6 hit a home run on this one! (by the way, the guys at the Knoxville store have been great to work with.)
