Great Pedal
I picked up this pedal not to long ago and quickly fell in love. Anything you could ever want in a delay pedal is all here. The built in loop station lets you play a riff, and then loop another riff over that. Once you record a loop, you can stop it and start it whenever. Also play your loops at half speed and backwards. You can store four presets which you can get to very easily. Turn the repeat all the way up and really start having fun making some crazy feedback sounds.

LINE 6 DL-4 DELAY MODELER
The DL-4 is the tacklebox of delays. With 16 different modes to choose from, I'm sure you'll find a few sounds to dig into. Classic models like the Echoplexes, Space Echo, and Memory Man are all here, and they all sound very convincing. The analog models have that same hazy tone and the disentegrating decay of the originals although they suffer a tiny bit from digitital coldness. As expected, The DL-4 sounds much better on the solid state models. The delays are crisp, clean, and beaming with their own pingy personalities. One model even allows for variable bit resolution, so you can get as clean or dirty as you want. Along with the more traditional models, Line 6 tossed in a few new interesting twists like Filter Sweep Delays, Reverse Delays, Delay with Modulation, and Volume Swell. Add to all this a spiffy 14 second Looper and you have one cool box full of fun... fun... fun.

simply awesome
this delay pedal packs so much into it that it is well worth the price tag, and then some.
I use this for guitar in a hard rock band and for bass in a variety of settings. The sounds are great and very close to the originals that they are emulating.
Of course they will not be exact, but it won't really matter. You won't have the headache associated with alot of the vintage tape delays, etc.
The tap function is key to getting the sound to work in time with what you are doing and having 3 user preset sounds is great to just setup and play.
My only complaint is that to really understand this pedal you have to carry the manual around, because there are so many settings for each model that it is almost impossible to remember what everything does. That being said, if you just want to turn knobs until you hear something you like without knowing what you are adjusting, well that works too.
Out of the dozens of pedals I have owned, this one will always be in my pedal board.

The only delay pedal you'll ever need
ALthough I used effects often in the past, I found that many of the sounds were quickly outdated, and not subtle enough to really be useful. After seeing artists like Bruce Cockburn and Even Johansen (Magnet)live, however, I looked into the Line 6 DL-4 Delay Modeler. This pedal accurately models numerous delay pedals, many of which are vintage and outrageously expensive--if you could even find them. The sheer range of delay effects you can dial up are staggering. Before owning this pedal, I never really knew what a delay was capapble of doing. Even though I have numerous delay plug-ins for recording guitar, I often opt to record direct with the DL-4 as it has many styles of delay that outperform the plug-ins. Useful for everything from serious long delays to textures and everything inbetween. You'll instantly love what the DL-4 can do with looping phrases as well--it's been a great way to compose and create in a way I wouldn't have ever thought of before, plus it's a heck of a lot of fun!

awesome loop station
ok so i have owned this pedal and people always complain about the price when i tell them how much it is, but you get endless possiblilities with all the settings, and not to mention you can get 14 seconds of continuos looping, which means you can over dub and over dub and over dub. this pedal rocks hands down/
