I never thought I'd use a synthetic reed, but I'm glad I tried this one. I needed something that wouldn't dry out if I had a long pause between songs (such as in church services) and would respond beautifully and sound the same every time. This one is it! It's dependable and consistant. It has a full sound without being squaky. I can comfortably hit a full range of notes without it giving out or changing. I love it. And the 1/4 step thicknesses is great. I'm exactly a 3.25

I received 2 Legere Classic Clarinet 3.5 reeds in the mail yesterday. The results are as follows: The first reed I tried was very stuffy. The second reed had a very nice open G. It also played nice in the lower register and up to a high A. After that the high notes were very chancy. I chose this strength because Legeres reed strength chart said it was comparable to the Vandoren traditional 3.5's that I usually use. Unfortunately it just wasn't working for me so I'll stick to what I usually use. This is sad because I do use Legere's Studio Cut 2.5 reeds on my tenor sax as practice reeds and sometimes for teaching. Unfortunately with reeds you pay your money, roll the dice and take your chances until you find what works. I may use the 1 clarinet reed that is not stuffy for a practice reed so it won't be a total waste of money.

Legere Bb Clarinet Reeds

Comments about Legere Bb Clarinet Reed:

When ordering a Legere reed, I've found that a 2 1/2 strength reed to be more like a 3 strength reed. I re-ordered a 2 strength reed and found it to be more of the strength and feel of a 2 1/2 strength reed.

What I do really like about this reed is that no more trimming and early collapse like a wooden reed

I bought this for my daughter, and she hated it. Her sound quality did not improve, and actually went flat.

      Legere reeds for life!

      By Kayleen Fairbanks

      from Chicago, IL

Comments about Legere Bb Clarinet Reed:

I will never play on a cane reed again. Ever. After picking up my clarinet again after some time off after college, I found myself frustrated trying to find a good consistent reed (which seems to always be the case for us reed instrumentalists). I was curious about these reeds and thus received one for Christmas. It felt strange initially, but WOW. What a difference. Plays immediately and sounds incredible. If you are unsure, just look up some videos of people playing these. The price is completely worth it and the reed will last you so much longer than a cane reed. They are very consistent since they are all made the same. I never write reviews for anything, but this is seriously the best thing since sliced bread and the world needs to know about it! These reeds have brought back my love of playing clarinet because it took away the stress of the reed variable. Legere, a thousand times thank you! And WWBW, prices are great and shipping was incredibly fast!

a must have for marching band consider 1/2 strength higher t

      By Rhett Strika

      from Clinton Township Michigan

Comments about Legere Bb Clarinet Reed:

This is great for marching band! A must have for high school and college marching band students! Never dries out, great under chilly conditions! Beware that as it heats up the sound quality isn't as nice. Therefor you might want to consider getting a half step stronger strength so when the reed and Clarinet heat up your tone stays consistent under normal playing conditions. Also, great for beginners that don't know much about reed working. Of any synthetic or plastic reed this is the best one by far!!!! I highly recommend it to all my students curious to try a synthetic.

Very nice reed, GO FOR IT

      By Thomas D.

Comments about Legere Bb Clarinet Reed:

I play in a clarinet choir, and as soon as I joined, I noticed that all the members were using this reed, so I gave it a try. AND IT WAS AWESOME!!!! The only thing is that It offers a very reedy sound (ironic, right), and isn't the best for concerts. It is still great for practicing

      Amazing for marching band.

      By Sarah M

      from Pocatello, Idaho

Comments about Legere Bb Clarinet Reed:

After the clarinet professor at a nearby university recommended this reed to me for marching band and I read the positive reviews, I went ahead and ordered one from wwbw. This reed is incredible for marching! No synthetic material will quite give you the sound and feel of a good cane reed (personally, I prefer Vandoren V12s for symphonic music), but this reed is consistent, durable, and convenient. It doesn't need to be wet! So I can stand at attention for hours in any weather and be ready to play right away. Not only did I love this reed, but I'm telling the rest of the reed players at my school to buy one right away.

      Good Sound, Easy to Use

      By Nick

      from Mount Joy, PA

Comments about Legere Bb Clarinet Reed:

After a 3 year hiatus from playing, I could no longer use the rest of the box of Vandoren 3.5s I had in my case. I started looking at reeds and tried Rico oranges, Rico Royales, and Mitchell Luries. I was getting frustrated with dealing with reed inconsistencies while rehabilitating my embouchure. I felt like I was fighting the reeds instead of playing them. I decided to give one of these a shot, and couldn't be happier with it. It is everything a good reed should be with none of the hassle of cane reeds. Buy one and throw away the rest of your canes, you won't regret it.
