The Jackson USA PC-1 Phil Collen is an electric guitar that boasts a quilted maple top and compound-radius flame fretboard to provide visual appeal that's as captivating as it is original. A double-bladed Sustainer humbucker up front sings it sweet and quiet, while a DiMarzio HS2 in the middle and DiMarzio Super 3 at the bridge dish out that signature Phil Collen chunk and screaming sustain. The Jackson PC-1 has a mahogany body and quartersawn bolt-on maple neck. Floyd Rose Original double-locking trem. Jackson includes a hardshell case with your PC-1 Phil Collen Guitar.

Jackson's compound-radius fingerboard curves more dramatically at the nut for easy chording and flattens out as it approaches the neck joint for low-action bends without fretting out. With a more relaxed hand, you'll play better! Includes case.

Fantastic Guitar!

By Luis Miguel Escartin Sanchez

from Puebla, Pue Mexico.

This is a rather expensive guitar, but if you are looking for a really good piece of equipment it is worth every cent! Electronics are very high quality, and produce beautiful sounds. It has been easier for me to produce natural and artifical harmonics with it and my sound has improved accordingly. The fretboard is really "smooth" and has helped to improve my vibrato and bendings, as the fingers just "slide" on the fretboard. The tremolo arm can be pulled real hard both down and up and the guitar returns in tune with no problem!(Van Halen Beat It solo for example.) String distance to frets is low which I really like. The sustain and harmonic switches are the "cherry on top of the pie". Even withouth the sustain switch turned on, you really get a long lasting sound, and if the switch is on, well it just goes on and on... I also like the position of the volumen and tone knobs, as I had a problem of accidentaly moving them when playing with tapping technique with other guitars. If you are planning on purhcasing the Jakcson PC-1, perhaps my only warning would be to consider that it is set up with strings gauges 10 - 52 (light top heavy bottom) so you will need these strings unless you want to mess around with the springs in the bridge. If you have played with light string gauges it takes a little time to get used to the thicker ones. This is not clearly explained in the guitar center web page, nor in the printed manual that Jackson supplies with the guitar, and is just mildly mentioned in the Jackson web page. Also consider that some colors are not in stock and may take some time to ship.

HEAVEN IS (this guitar)

By Matt

from Los Angeles, CA

This is a great guitar. the neck is much thicker than other Jackson necks though. Much more like a Fender neck, (i for one like the Ibanez shaped necks). The tone is sweet, and there's a lot of sustain. Also, the sustainer is unbelievable! Though other guitars play easier, once you try that sustainer, you're hooked! I have the natural, and its by far the most beautiful guitar i've ever seen.

PC1's Are Addicting Guitars, it is TRUE!!!

By Brad Palmer

from Meridian, Mississippi

While the price may scare some away, I have 4 PC1's and each is amazingly consistant to the others. I have spoke with players of other HighEnd "SuperStrats" who rave on the PC1 as much as I do, and would put it up against anything similar. Each Quilt Top is pretty much "one of a kind" so they vary, some highly figured and some not so. If buying, and this is of major importance to you, you might want to request a picture of the ACTUAL guitar you are purchasing. Overall, a Super High Quality piece, excellent feel, with excellent sound. You will be hard pressed to find such a professional guitar, don't be afraid of the price...it is worth it and will last for years!!

Def Leppard sound

By Keith kilburn

from Carlisle Ohio

I have to honestly say that I am a def leppard fan and was in search of the sound of phil collin's guitar sound and I have finaly found it. I purchased this guitar used but in great condition and I would tell all the def leppard fans that this is the only guitar to get the Hysteria sounding riffs and platyability. The sustain goes on forever and the quality is excellant.5 stars all the way.....In a Def Leppard cover band you will need this guitar for very realistic sound to the band.Close enough to phil that it is scarry....

This Is One Bad Axe!

By BigWhacker

from Creve Coeur, IL

From the mesmerizing quilt to the endless sustain, this PC1 gets my full, undivided attention. I first picked this guitar up about three years ago at my local music store. I was shopping for an American made instrument, and once I laid eyes on this beauty, I was immediately drawn in. I sat down and cradled this guitar like a newborn baby. Then, the moment of truth came when I plugged into a Marshall Mode Four. I knew then that I had a partner for life! The playability of this guitar is amazing. The Dimarzio pickups, in conjunction with the sustainer/fundamental harmonic blend, give you a wide range of sounds and tones. Did I mention endless sustain? To this day, I get lost in the fine quality of the quilted maple. My PC1 has the Mocha finish. I'm not one to pick black for a finish, but the quilt has so many shades...It is beautiful!
