Comments about Ibanez GSR Mikro 5-String Bass Guitar:

Been playing bass for about 15 years now, but always felt held back in terms of what I could learn to do.

This bass has changned all that. It fits my hand. A 34 inch bass simply does not. One is fun to play, the other is not. For some people a bass is a large instument, it's just plain common sense to get one that fits your hand. I find myself totally back into playing now that I have this.

The tone is fine, if anything better than my 34 inch basses. There are no dead spots - which my other basses have.

The strings are not loose or floppy. I've read that online about short scale bases - and have found it to be nonsense. When comparing it to my other basses the strings are fainly more loose, but not something that I notice while playing. Lack of tension should be a non-concern.

The action came too low - so had to raise it a little. That's all.

      Sweet little bass

Comments about Ibanez GSR Mikro 5-String Bass Guitar:

I've been playing bass for about 4 years now (guitar for over 40) and have two long scale basses, a Gibson EB and a Breedlove Solo AEB. I wanted a 5 string but I didn't want to spend a lot of money just to find out I didn't like playing a five string. Out of the box this little bass was just fine. The setup was good and the strings adequate though I'd rather have flatwounds (I can take care of that later on this week). Nice fit and finish, good playability though the pots will be upgraded in the near future. One great feature is that it is very LIGHT WEIGHT. A two or three hour practice session or gig can get tiring lugging a 10 pound + bass around. If you're looking for a nice little (it's about the size of a Strat) bass for practicing or gigging (with a few minor tweaks) this might just be the ticket. Oh... buy the gig bag too. It fits the bass like a glove.

      Ibanez GSR Mikro 5-String Bass

Comments about Ibanez GSR Mikro 5-String Bass Guitar:

I'm blown away by this little thing. I have an American Fender P-Bass and love it, but wanted something smaller and with 5 strings to play around with. This bass out of the box has really impressed me. It is quality built, and feels terrific. Low action, and can still slap and pop clean and clear anywhere on the neck. Intonation was perfect. Very narrow neck, perfect for small hands. Great Bridge. Pickups sound good, and with pretty much any processor will make it sound like anything you want. I played it through a POD XT and a ME70 and either one gave me monster pro sound. I absolutely love it, and for $ for what I got, could care less where it was made. Ibanez did a terrific job on this one.
