  • A tone machine

As reviewed by Brian Fanjul on 6/6/2010

The Ibanez JSM100VT may look like a ES-335 but it's a totally different beast. The construction and attention to detail is amazing coming from Japan. Beautiful guitar that sound and plays like a dream. It's versatile enough to cover most styles (Fusion,Jazz,Funk,R&B,Blues and Rock). The Super 58 pick-ups are perfect for those styles it give you a very modern sound. It stay in tune better than those ES-335 but the sound is not comparable it got hes own voice, it also stay in tune most of the time after a few bends and the neck is fast. I recommended the Ibanez JSM100VT to anyone who wants a versatile tone machine for Live, Studio Recordings, Rehearsals or just practicing at home.

  • Great Semi-hollow guitar

As reviewed by Jim B. on 1/7/2014

Awesome guitar by Ibanez. I hunted around for weeks, played several Gibsons in the local shops (335, 339), and even bought a used 335 dot plain top that was in great shape, based on the massive popularity of the ES-335. Had the Gibson set up, spent a couple of weeks playing it, then brought it back because it seemed like such a dull instrument for the price. Then spotted this Ibanez guitar in the local store for $1000 off the new retail price. Used, but in excellent condition (didn't look like it had even been played). The difference in tone was impressive. The JSM100 has more punch, color, greater clarity and sustain. Sounds great clean or with any amount of gain. Jumbo frets and an ever slightly wider neck compared to the 335 makes chording easy. Needless to say, sounds terrific for jazz and blues, but surprisingly holds its own perfectly for rock, too. Superior to the Gibson in binding, inlays, quality of hardware, and finish. Even the side output jack is an improvement. Finding this guitar at a good used price made the choice simple. I highly recommend this instrument if you're looking for a versatile, semi-hollow guitar.
