This DVD gives you a unique opportunity to study with the legendary electric guitarist Eric Johnson. Eric teaches this master class in advanced picking techniques for speed and accuracy, left- and right-hand muting, blues bends, pedal steel-style bends, unique chord voicings, and much more. A truly great 90-minute electric guitar lesson from the man of whom Steve Morse said, "Eric Johnson is so good it's ridiculous!"
First, I own both of the Eric Johnson Hot Licks titles. I certainly enjoyed them, but I wouldn't recommend them purely from an instructional point of view. They give you some insight into EJ's quest for tone, and walk you through some signature licks, but there really isn't much that you can build on here. I wish he would go more in depth with why he's playing the way he is, instead of just running through it at half speed. So, if you're an Eric Johnson fan who's heard the recordings and just wants to learn some of his trademark moves, 4 stars. If you just need instruction in how to play, look elsewhere.
