Hohner 572 Hot Metal Harmonica (100127459)
Availability:

An economical, 10-hole harmonica for all ages.

The 10-hole, diatonic Hohner 572 Hot Metal Harmonica has a smooth and comfortable plastic comb, brass reeds, and stainless steel covers. It's an economical harmonica for those looking to rock out while playing rock 'n' roll or lay down some blues. The 572 Hot Metal is similar to Hohner's Old Standby harmonica but with a little more edge and a brighter sound. It's tough, durable, easy-on-the-wallet, and a great starter harp for those just finding their chops.

  • A decent beginner harp worth every penny

As reviewed by Jake Robinson on 12/29/2010

I have 2 of these which I bought earlier this year. They come in the Hohner hard plastic 2 piece box with the Hot Metal logo on it. It's not easy to carry around in the box because the harp moves around and makes a ton of noise. I would recommend a beginner buy 1 or 2 of these in different keys to get a feel before investing in more expensive harps. As for sound, the 2 that I own sound good enough to play in front of an audience. Their construction isn't as high of quality as the other Hohner harps that I own (Hot Metal harps are made in China). Either way, for less than $10 you are getting a harp that can stand on it's own against more expensive instruments. I give this 5 stars because this harmonica does exactly what Hohner says it will.

  • Save your Ten Bucks

As reviewed by Freddie Bennett on 5/10/2013

I bought this to try out Harmonica. What a waste of $10. it plays most of the notes but a couple of the draws are dead. Tried adjusting the reeds to no avail. Would cost me more in gas to drive and return it then it's worth. Lesson learned you get what you pay for most of the time, not this time. Save your money and buy a decent harp, don't waste it on this junk.

  • Cheap but does work.

As reviewed by Dan Nobles on 6/25/2012

Guess you get what you pay for. Bought one in G to try out a different key. I have a Special 20 in C which I was learning on. The harp does work and all the draws work. However; the sound quality is no where near the more expensive Special 20. The projection is weaker and it much harder to play. I can hear the escaping air on this one versus the Special 20 which all I hear is the note. If you want something to play around with and don't want to spend much, go with the Bluesband, it's even cheaper. If you want something that sounds good go with higher end German made Hohners.
