I could not be more pleased with this guitar. As a left-handed player it's hard to find truly well made guitars that aren't one-offs or simplified models. This is the real deal....the SG. Also, as a lefty it's hard to make a purchase of this size without ever having held it in hand. I had faith in Gibson to deliver a quality guitar, and it actually came through better than what I had expected. I got the Heritage Cherry version and it is beautiful. Great color, well finished, and I dig this larger pick guard. The neck is straight, the humbuckers sound great, and it's lighter than I thought (a good change of pace from my Les Paul about half way through a gig). If you're looking for a guitar that you can rely on and will be proud to own, I would recommend the SG Standard to anyone. Enjoy!
As the title says, this guitar is just fantastic. It has an amazing tone and sound, the look of the guitar is another selling point; it̴s just so recognizable and iconic, with artists like Angus Young and Tony Iommi. Going back to the other major factors, the sound is so clear on this guitar. This guitar is so versatile in the different genres of music, it can play from hard rock to blues, to jazz to pop. Also, this guitar is so light that it is very comfortable when playing while standing up or live. This is a fantastic guitar for lefties. The price is totally worth it. Don̴t let the price mislead you, this is another great entry in the Gibson roster.
Being cursed by playing left handed it is hard to find any good guitars in a guitar shop. I have been playing a Fender Telecaster for years but could not get the sound out of it that I wanted and it was like playing a boat anchor. Decided to give gibson a try. Oh my God, when my SG arrived I couldnt believe how light it was and easy to play. The level of sustain and bite that comes out of this guitar is amazing. It has brought my playing to another level.I am hooked for life.
The Gibson sg standard is the best guitar for the money, great tone for all kinds of music, the fatter 50s neck is a must, this guitar sings,as with all guitars, try out a few, when you find the one, that fits you,you wont give it back, from blues to Sabbath,it does it all
I know a lot of people say, well there isn't much of a difference between the epiphone sg and the gibson sg. Just the price. Well i disagree. The Gibson Sg surpasses the epiphone in every way. For me, it's playability, sound, and just the over all feel of the guitar. It's much lighter than the epiphone, and has better quality all around. Im not saying the epiphones are bad guitars, im just prasing the gibson sg because it is truely amazing. Im basing this after playing my epiphone g400, and playing a gibson sg at the gibson showcase in nashville. It's a world of difference for me.
Just purchased this axe yesterday. Wow, this guitar really rocks. Neck is very smooth, fast and easy run. Sound is heavy and great for the metal I love to play. It can hit the high notes that pierce your ears and at the same time, pound out those heavy power cords. I am in love with this and for those of you considering a Fender, dont waste your time, this Gibson beats all Fenders any day.
I have been playing fender guitars for about 10 years now, and I still do. However, when I began wanting to get more into slide guitar, my fenders were not the sound to have. I bought this guitar, wanting that classic Duane Allman tone. Mission accomplished!! The warm tone of the Humbuckers that this baby puts out is incredible and long lasting. The fullness of the sound fully recreates that "Statesboro Blues" sound. I would recommend also using a fender tube amp with this guitar, along with a blues driver pedal.
I dont own one of these bad boys but I got to play one at a used guitar store. Man it was sweet it sounded so smooth and clean I just couldn't believe it. It was my first time playing a gibson. Right now I have a Strat and I couldn't believe how much better I sounded on the gibson. It is affordable but right now i dont have a job or else i would have one. So if you want a affordable guitar that sounds clean and you can just shred on this is the one for you.
ok, being cursed with the left handed thing you know I am up against the wall. HOWEVER, I have tried it all, right handed flipped, knock offs, converting the cheapos to the "real deal" and all I can say is this. Buy the real thing and say WOW! this is like driving a chevy cavalier and then going s 500 benz, this is an awesome guitar, long lean and a voice that makes you go oh my god..trust me...just buy the flippin thing and rock on.....by the way my initials are "SG" so how could I go wrong with the thing?!
