While Gibson has almost always offered the J-45 with a back and sides of solid genuine mahogany, with occasional Custom J-45s utilizing rosewood or maple, this rare bird leaves the Gibson Acoustic nest boasting solid highly flamed maple. This rarer back and side wood choice is enhanced with a hand-rubbed red mahogany stain under hand-applied and tone-friendly nitrocellulose lacquer, offering aesthetic beauty only matched by the crisp and edgy tone that maple produces.

Limited to a run of 65 models, this special J-45 Flamed Maple Acoustic-Electric features a multi-ply, hand-applied top and soundhole binding with a single bound back, wrapped around the rare red mahogany finish. Combined with the hand-selected flame maple back and sides, Sitka spruce top and genuine mahogany neck make this rare Gibson J-45 one looks and sounds like no other.

Other special appointments include a 1.725 wide neck with a Tusq nut, Gibsons traditional hand-fit neck-to-body dovetail neck joint joined with old-world hide glue, hand-scalloped traditional X bracing for a more lively response from the top, a rosewood bridge, and a 12" radius rosewood fingerboard accented with abalone position markers. It includes gold open back Grover tuners, a PLEK setup accurate to within .001", super comfortable "C" neck, all translated into an amplified signal by the tried-and-true L.R.
