Gibson

This limited edition J-185 Birdseye Maple is a superstar. With a slightly smaller body dimension than the Super Jumbo, the J-185 produces substantial power and projection in a smaller package. This limited features solid hand-selected birdseye maple for visual prowess accompanied by the bright, clear tones maple produces. Combined with the award-winning L.R. Baggs Element VTC pickup system, this limited edition run of 50 will appeal to players and collectors looking for a truly unique guitar. Ships with a Certificate of Authenticity.

Birdseye Maple can be all but impossible to find, especially in dimensions large enough to build a guitar. Birdseye occurs in far less than .1% of all maple trees, mostly in hard maple species, and can be very difficult to work. Gibson was fortunate enough to find enough very select Birdseye maple to produce 26 of these exquisite rare birds for all of North America.

Based on the Gibson J-185 popular since the 1950s with artists as from the Everly Brothers to Billy Joe Armstrong, this Custom Shop J-185 complements the very special Birdseye maple with abalone trim on the top and bottom of the guitar. A Baggs Element pickup system helps reproduce the most natural sounds emanating from this one of a kind Gibson. Protected by a very light, hand-applied nitrocellulose lacquer finish and plush lined Gibson hardshell case, and the famous Gibson Limited Lifetime Warranty.
