• Only A Gibson is Good Enough

  I bought this guitar two weeks ago and have been playing her everyday what can I say,I've been playing for over 30 years and had many guitars I always wanted to buy a Gibson LP but for some stupid dumb reason never did now that I had a stroke back in Nov. and found out I have a bad heart I said to myself and my beautiful wife I want a Les Paul before I die so I bought one and now having one and playing her I should have bought one years ago best money I ever spent on a guitar. She plays and sounds GREAT.This is a guitar you can own a life time and pass on to your kids it will always be a timeless classic.For those thinking of buying any Gibson LP don't be like me and keep putting it off till you might not have enough time to really enjoy it.You only live once so just DO IT you won't be sorry.I give this guitar a 5 star x 2

• Worth waiting and paying for

  I, like many guitarist's I have talked to, have waited their entire lives for a Les Paul, usually for the same reasons, Strat player, price, other equipment needed instead, etc. I have waited 30 years for THIS Les Paul! The timing of my financial situation and the production of the Les Paul Standard Traditional Plus was perfect. When I played my Iced Tea, (which I would drink if it where liquid) it was just awesome. Not being able to purchase one does not mean you can't play them by the dozens at Guitar Center, so this was not my first experience with the LP. Everything about it is flawless! The price is not too high as this is an American HAND MADE AND PAINTED GUITAR! IF you have to, set action, change strings if having a tuning problem or if strings are not your guage, make sure truss is adjusted and play! I saw some that were in need of adjustments,(most likely because they are played for hours (and sometimes abused) by certain people, (you know who you are) and the one I ended up buying withing 30 min. was perfect as it was at the store for only 2 days. Actually, I wanted it so bad, I bought one that was played with and exchanged it as soon as a new one arrived at GC as Icalled every other day so I could get it before the 6 hour soloist that does'nt buy it gets a hold of it! A must have LP!

• Play it Before You Buy it.

  This will probably never get published but here goes anyway... I had been eyeballing a LP Traditional at a local store for months. Finally got it down and played it. Discovered that it was a 2009 model (two years old). The neck pickup did not work. Gee, wonder why it had not sold in two years? After some basic inspection with the backs off, found a bad solder joint. Made a deal for about half price, took it home and soldered up the bad joint correctly. Great playing and sounding guitar now. One of the best in my stable and probably my favorite. This is not a "chambered" model so it sounds and feels reel good and solid coming off of the "57 classic pickups. The neck is straight and true. The nut was a little high but, and easy 30 second fix with some nut files. It did need a setup job but all guitars do, even custom shop models. You can take any CNC machine and do a "PLEK" job but, if the wood is unstable the neck will move and twist. If the wood is good (quarter sawn), it will retain it's shape. You roll the dice with any production guitar. If you are not willing to do some basic setup work you will be disappointed. Les Pauls have always been fussy. But well worth the effort. Get yourself a Traditional. Best deal out there. Or, pay much more for fancy wood but otherwise the same guitar.
