If you like to keep your pedalboard neat this is the way to go. I had the Planet Waves and it was cool but the cabel and the plugs are so thick and that makes it harder to fit more pedals. It also makes your pedalboard look ugly. But not only are these George L's thin but they also sound amazing. Now I'm a George L user for life.

I put these together precisely as directed, never had 1 gig with these cables where I didn't have a problem. Seems like a great concept - really cleaned-up my pedal board having custom cut / length cables but they never worked for a single show. FWIW, I never once had a problem ever with the inexpensive Live Wire patch cables - gigged those for years with ZERO problems. I am a professional musician with lots of live experience. Will never buy these again.

Would never invest in these again!

By Nimalicious

Comments about George L's Effects Pedal Cable Kit:

I wasted my money on this inferior cable system! You basically can't make any cable shorter than a foot, or else the cable wont even work. Tried cutting all different sizes and the only one that seemed to give me decent tone was a 3 foot cable! Biggest waste ever...I just went back to using small 1/4" cables for patching b/c with this set, I lost quality and signal. This is junk!!!

How could they get better?

By Drew

from Bakersfield, Ca

Comments about George L's Effects Pedal Cable Kit:

A lot of people fear soderless connections but with the absolute ease of connecting them and a little common sense these by far are the best on the market for putting your pedal board together. How much do you pay for pedals? Why penny pinch and short yourself on what ties them all together. I could hear a more full tone from all of my pedals and realized how noisey my board used to be and wondered how I ever played like that. George L's are a mainstay on my board and I have not one complaint.

GRRRREAT!

By Chris

from New York

Comments about George L's Effects Pedal Cable Kit:

Can't see how anyone could say a bad word about George L's. Definitely a must have for any guitarist running anything between their axe and amp. The difference is startling it will eliminate hum and drastically improve your signal. Introducing even one of the standard little connecter cables will muddy things up. (which may be beneficial in certain situations if you're playing through a really bright amp!) I think the only improvement you could make here is to add your own Neutrik NP2RCS ends. Check out George L's you'll be glad you did!

mandatory for high end pedalboards.

By northropa

Comments about George L's Effects Pedal Cable Kit:

For the most pedalboards, inexpensive mass market cables work just fine. If your never ending search for the perfect tone have included products from Fulltone, Keeley and Pete Cornish, you owe it to yourself to see the difference a quality cable can make. A fair assessment of these cables are natural and neutral. They will not add or cloud your sound. The ability to customize lengths is a plus for crowded pedalboards. Overall, a wise purchase for boutique pedalboards, a bit overkill for the rest.

Simple, exact and fun!~

By Jandrin

Comments about George L's Effects Pedal Cable Kit:

Having played with stomp boxes for years, having "just the right chord" for the job has always been an issue. I have tried many different brands of cables to achieve the sound I wanted while having the least amount of "chord confusion" while putting it all together. George L's was the answer for me! Not only was it the easiest "do it yourself" kit that I have ever learned to use, but it also is as precise as you want it to be length wise. I use a Pedaltrain Pro pedal board and this cable kit has made my board go from looking slightly confused to pro looking. In addition, the tonal qualities of these cables are excellent. I truly noticed a difference between these and many other brands of cables I have used over the years. In summation, I would recommend these to anyone. The only problem I could foresee with them is repeated "plug / unplugging" of them as they could require a bit of mending from time to time. Also, the ends of a cable do not matter for overall sound quality, only the actual cable itself matters, if you get these, go with whichever ends you like, but they all end up sounding the same.

Great cables

By Nigel Moo Choy

from Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Comments about George L's Effects Pedal Cable Kit:

Well engineered solderless plugs. Just remember to cut the ends off cleanly, de-crimp the cuts, so the cable looks round at the ends again. Place the cable end into right angle plug, push it in a bit, then bend the wire into the slot and screw the end camp down into the plug while holding the cable at 45 degree angle in slot. Lastly, place a rubber jacket provided over the screw end of the plug. This will somewhat secure the end screw to the plug. Then I recommend using a multi-meter to test for continuity at both ends of your new plug. That way... your certain that your plug connections are secure and not cutting too deep to the middle of the cable shorting it out. If you use these cables for a permanent pedal set-up they will work very well. However, I found that if I'm frequently moving pedals around on the board, pulling at the plugs and bending the cables, the connections may become loose over time, and you may have to re-build the plug connection. These cables take less space than Monster and Planet Waves effect cables. So if pedal board space is a premium, this is the best choice. Sound wise... there is more clarity in the top end. If you make them correctly, these cables are also very transparent and noise-free. Strangely enough... these cables sound much better than regular metal couplers and shortened soldered patch cords. These other cables must have slightly more resistance; hence, lesser sound quality. But, I highly recommend the George L cables.... It's night and day. Hope this helps.

These Cables Rock!

By JT

from San Jose, CA

Comments about George L's Effects Pedal Cable Kit:

After reading many reviews and comparing the available cables for my pedalboard, I decide to go with the George L's. The price was not attractive, but the product is. I did an A/B comparison with my existing patch cables, and to my ear the "L's" sound fuller and crisper; no scientific or lengthy tests done however. The only real thing that I didn't like was that the directions were pretty lame and ambiguous. Even looking on line didn't help much. I finally figured it out, and everything worked perfectly the first time hooking it up. Don't hear any noise either. Would have been nice to have a cutter in the package, but no big deal.

Excellent Cables

By Will

from Clemson, SC

Comments about George L's Effects Pedal Cable Kit:

Here's the deal, these are solder-less cables. However, GL knows what they're doing when they make the plugs for these cables. Make the cables like they suggest and you'll be fine. I've had mine over a year and I've had no problems yet. Treat them with respect and they will sound great. For convenience, these cables are some of the best on the market. You simply cut to desired length and then put on the plug. No more cluttered messes on your board, but some beautiful cabling will be present instead, leaving all your guitarist buddies drooling over your board. But the price is in the tone. A lot of people talk about how "sparkly" or whatever their tone is afterwards and how much high end they have. I can't promise you this, but what I CAN tell you is I have all the high end I want. I play a Les Paul Custom into a Menatone Red Snapper on a Orange Rocker 30's (eq-less) Natural Channel. But these GL's give me every bit of high end I need to still pull of the tones I want, even with the Les Paul, which naturally has a bit more of a dark tone.

GREAT BUY

By caleb molina

Comments about George L's Effects Pedal Cable Kit:

I recently bought these cables, I have both the planet waves and now these, both are great but I would go with these im currently running 13 pedals so I need to have them a tight space to fit them all with the George's L that's possible seeing how the planet waves are more thicker. no huge difference in the tone but I would buy these instead have more flexibility to them

Excellent sound and reliability

By Alan Natanagara

from Atlanta, GA

Comments about George L's Effects Pedal Cable Kit:

I have been using George L's cables in my live and studio pedalboards for over ten years, and I have yet to have one fail me. I even use them as instrument cables on occasion. Be aware that I am very careful in setting up my rigs; I arrange and secure everything in such a way that there is minimal strain on the ends of any patch or power cables. That being said, gear gets manhandled at gigs, and like I said, these cables haven't failed me yet. You will need a cable tester to put these together. It's a major hassle when you put together all your patch cables, wire up your pedalboard, and you can't tell which cable doesn't have a proper connection. Sound is clear and uncolored, and the space that the jacks take up is smaller than any good patch cable I have ever used. When millimeters make a difference on your board, this is a godsend. $80 for five custom-length patch cables is a deal.

Well worth the money!

By Richard Silletto

from San Ramon, CA

Comments about George L's Effects Pedal Cable Kit:

I originally wired my pedalboard with the Planet Waves kit. After gigs I was constantly having to tweak the cables and hunt down intermittent issues. I have 8 pedals on my board so I sprung for two of these kits. It took me 45 minutes to get it up and running. The difference in sound clarity was immediately obvious, and the smaller plugs gives a much cleaner look. Extremely easy to assemble too.

Great Cable Kit

By Jason Hernandez

from California

Comments about George L's Effects Pedal Cable Kit:

I decided to give these a try since, the last two cable kits I purchased were from Planet Waves. The PW's are a great kit also, but, the angled ends are big and can interfere with the power plugs on some pedals. Especially, since most manufactureers like to put the power in front of the pedal input jack. The George L's were simple enough to put together and, I got them together correctly on the first try. The only issue seemed to be getting a snug contact on the male jack part and the round end that holds the cable on. The jack is smooth but, would be easier to put together if it had some kind of cross pattern on it, to make holding it easier while you screwed the two parts together. Overall, it's a nice product and would purchase again.

So good

By Kyle Allen

from Atlanta, GA

Comments about George L's Effects Pedal Cable Kit:

I bought these cables because I ran into a sudden ground problem with the cheap cables I had on my pedal board. Since I had a large pedal board it was actually cheaper to buy these plus some extra plugs than get more of the cheaper ones. Let me tell you, these cables are amazing! I've never been one to say that different cables make your tone sound different but these cables really do "...take a blanket off your amp" as George L says. The cables themselves are very slim so you can fit them in a tight space and the connectors are very high quality. Not to mention that they are very simple to put together. One word of advice though. When you are putting these together keep in mind the angle of the cables you are making. If you out all the right angles going the same way you'll notice (if your board is like mine) that the angles of the cables you need vary. Overall: very easy to make, keeps your tone true to what you're playing and keeps your board looking very neat and clean.

Excellent kit but pricy.

By John

Comments about George L's Effects Pedal Cable Kit:

I actually bought two of these kits to finish off a pedalboard and loop switcher. I watched an on-line video and got straight to it. The solderless connections are very easy to make and worked every time. This is in contrast to a D'Addario kit I got a couple of weeks previously, which is why I now own a cable tester . . . The George L cable is very thin, which is great when you are running 16 lines to a switcher. My only gripe is that I wish the ends were a little less bulky. They make it difficult to get pedals really close together to save room on the board. They are also a little pricy, when you think about 5 patch cables costing almost $20 each.
