Hello, I've had this guitar for over a month now and I'm confident in my assessment to help people looking to make this purchase. Let's start with this, for my 18th birthday I got myself an Ibanez acoustic guitar to replace my BC Rich Warlock. This switch was because my playing went from metal to classic rock and I wanted to finger pick more. Over four years later I was an acoustic playing mad man. But soon I've started to play more classic rock, funk, blues and punk. With some assistance from Hendrix, Vaughn, Gilmour, Frusciante and many more to name I knew a Strat was going to be MY guitar. Now the big question, American or an Import? I've seen and heard so much talk about how great American Strats are and also how the Mexican ones have been stepping up their game leaving only subtle differences between the two (aside from the huge price difference). That subtle difference I believe is in the tone. The best way to put it, I'd like to beef up the twang. Because you're paying less this guitar is not going to be assembled with high quality parts but gets you close to that perfect Strat sound. That's not anything some ingenuity can't fix. Replacing the stock tremolo and pickups this guitar would still be THE biggest bang for your buck. You can do virtually anything you want cosmetically and sound wise. And the playing is oh so smooth and versatile. This guitar will be by my side for the rest of my life. So factory wise, I can't complain. But as for the distribution with shipping and inspecting from Guitar Center, it is a shame. I've called to place my order and I was very stern on how I expect a completely blemish free new Strat. Out of the resealed box (implying they've inspected it like I've asked) I immediately noticed a dirty fingerprint practically fused with the finish. Till this day I can't get it completely out. So some GREAT cleaner and polish at their expense would be wonderful. But I doubt that will happen. I suppose that's my fault for blindly purchasing a guitar. But the closest GC to me which is still a long ways away only had a floor model of the guitar I wanted. So if you can, do a walk in and inspect it thoroughly before you fall in love with it too much to send it back... I hope I've done alright helping anyone with this legitimate review. Take care everyone!

Nice guitar but...

By Trevor Brace

Comments about Fender Standard Stratocaster Electric Guitar with Maple Fretboard:

I like the updating Fender has done with this model. It looks a little more nicer with the tint and the new logo. However, This guitar doesn't have a gloss finish on the neck. I was at the Guitar Center in my city, and I played 4 or 5 different MIM Standards, and not one had a gloss finish. The website description says it does, this is false..It's still a nice guitar tho..I'd replace the pickups with some '69's, but for the price..can't be beat.

Great for Intermediate players and great for the price

By ANTHONY seangdara

from Byron, IL

Comments about Fender Standard Stratocaster Electric Guitar with Maple Fretboard:

I bought the Arctic White Stratocaster last month. I am personally a huge fan of the maple fretboards. They look nice and its easier for me to see the strings when I play. The frets are kind of thin so its easy for me to play since my hands are small. This guitar is really great for beginner's and intermediate players. Obviously it won't sound as good as good as the American made one, but overall the Fender brands are no jokes.

A More Faithful Reproduction Of The Old Strats Than The Custom Shop's

By Clint

from Seattle, WA

Comments about Fender Standard Stratocaster Electric Guitar with Maple Fretboard:

This guitar already has most of the features for which the Fender Custom Shop would CHARGE EXTRA! Look at a custom shop 50s or 60s reproduction and compare the two side-by-side. The only REAL difference is the logo decal on the neck! Consider, also, the tremendous price difference. For a person who wants a great guitar at a great price, this is the best deal on the market. I haven't found a Mexican-made standard strat that wasn't just as good to play as the American Strats given a good, professional set-up by a qualified luthier/tech. For the difference, they have almost anything else beat and beat bad!

Fantastic

Comments about Fender Standard Stratocaster Electric Guitar with Maple Fretboard:

It's been almost eight years since I have purchased this guitar and it still plays close to, if not as good as new. I have played American-made Strat's before and they are phenomenal, if you have the money to spend, by all means go get an American-made one. But you really can not go wrong at all with this guitar if you don't have a good grand or two to spend on the American-made one or if you wanna choose this one over the American-made (either way, you can't loose). I guarantee you that you'll get WAY more than your money's worth with this guitar. Nothing but good things to say about this guitar.

Absolute Satisfaction

By RUSSELL RAND

from Waterloo, IA.

Comments about Fender Standard Stratocaster Electric Guitar with Maple Fretboard:

I have owned MANY guitars in the 31 years I have been playing. I have never been in a position financially to afford the high end American guitars (or even substantiate the cost). But Fender has found a way to bring it's quality to a middle-class income. This Stratocaster is "top notch"! I love everything about it...the looks (Arctic White w/Maple), the sound (playing any combination of pick-ups), and the feel (this guitar feels like it was custom fit to my body and hands). And to have what seems to be the perfect guitar for me, at an affordable price for the working man---all equals ABSOLUTE SATISFACTION! I play through a Fender Ultimate Chorus, and a Fender Hot Rod DeVille (these amps were used deals I got for cheap and on trade), and with this guitar, through those amps---I defy ANYONE to debate that they can tell the difference between this Made In Mexico, or an American Strat. I wanna thank Guitar Center in Cedar Rapids, IA. for setting me up with this beauty. They were more than helpful, when I explained what I was looking for was not in the store, so they ordered this one and had it shipped directly to my house---and their "price match" policy saved me about $40.00 as well. There were no issues with the guitar out of the box; of course there was some set up involved as with anything coming from a warehouse (they are in the business of SELLING guitars, not tuning them). This guitar will NEVER leave my collection. And what's more than that...I plan to ask Santa for a Midnight Wine w/Rosewood fretboard Strat for Christmas, to add to the collection as well.

Great Overall Guitar

By Jonathan Nevius

from Orlando, FL

Comments about Fender Standard Stratocaster Electric Guitar with Maple Fretboard:

This guitar is perfect for the price. I've played this model as well as Hot Rods and American Standards, and in my book this guitar surpasses them. Great feel, great sustain, I was even surprised at how great the pickups were for stock! I play this guitar on a Fender Mustang II amp, and it goes perfect with the effect presets. I'm in love!

Beautiful guitar...

By Paul

from Oswego NY

Comments about Fender Standard Stratocaster Electric Guitar with Maple Fretboard:

I am a bass player....I own 13 basses. I play guitar really just for my own entertainment, but I realized I dont have one in my collection. So...I went to GC in Syracuse and played a bunch of them Didn't want to spend too much, but equally wanted quality. I fancied an Artic white Strat with a maple neck and played it for about an hour. Yes, its made in Mexico, but that's what I wanted. I lived in Southern California for years. The origianl Fender factory employed many Hispanic people who were outstanding craftsman/woman. Many people probably never knew this. The Ensenada factory is a state-of-the-art facility and the tradtion continues. I am very proud to see this and feel this. A great axe..a great price..get one ...enjoy one. Has that awesome Strat twang..great work my friends.

WAY BETTER THAN I IMAGINED

By walt

Comments about Fender Standard Stratocaster Electric Guitar with Maple Fretboard:

I've been playing Teles for about four years. I'm a working adult musician. For some snob reason I thought buying the more expensive models was the way to go over the years. I spent a couple days going back and forth form a few of these and useing an American Standard Strat as a guide line. Finally came to my senses and decided that for a bar room guitar this price point will work. I liked the brown burst color. Got it home and plugged it into my Blues Jr Tweed NOS and cranked it to bar levels. Tell you what, this could be the most impressive guitar out of the box I have ever bought. You have five different tones to work with. If you like jazzy and mellow just knock the tone knob down a few clicks. There is not the slightest blemish on the finish anywhere. The neck, frets, and setup is excellent. I thought maybe later I'd put different pickups in it. There is nothing wrong with these pickups. They can crank and keep their tone.
