Whaaat....?

By Henry Kovel

from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania

Comments about Fender Fatfinger Guitar Sustain Enhancer:

Absolutely useless, I saw this the other day and thought "screw it, I'll buy one and try it out." I assumed it was probably junk and boy was I right. It claims to add sustain and improve your tone by... That's right kids... Clamping down a hunk of metal onto your headstock.... Makes perfect sense, right? I would love to see the rocket science behind this thing. Hell, I'm even using a Fender USA Strat, you would think they would probably have an excuse that it only works on Fender products or something but there isn't even an excuse here, it's just a frickin' clumsy paperweight. Cripe Fender, you guys do anything to get your hands on some cash.

Happy with it

By clarence bonin

Comments about Fender Fatfinger Guitar Sustain Enhancer:

I like it. Ordered one for my friend. The Fatfinger name is more important than the word sustain. It doesn't really increase the ultimate duration of the sustain vibration. IT DOES increase volume which means you can actually hear the tone better and longer. Regardless of the name, IT IS A SOUND CHANGER at a whole lot less $ than any stomp box. I use for some songs on an American Standard Strat and a Gibson Les Paul.

Works for me.

Comments about Fender Fatfinger Guitar Sustain Enhancer:

The fender fatfinger sustain enhancer works very well for me. I think the key to using it successfully is to find the right position on the head-stock to place it for maximum tone sustain.

Comments about Fender Fatfinger Guitar Sustain Enhancer:

I have a PRS Dave Navarro SE, which sounded thin and anemic compared to my Epiphone Les Paul with burstbuckers. As soon as I put this on the headstock of the PRS, I could tell the tone sounded richer as well as carrying more sustain. When I touch the Fatfinger with a fingernail, I can feel it picking up resonant frequencies from the headstock. One reason the LP has so much sustain is mine has the fat neck, which captures more resonance than the thin neck on the PRS. The added mass of this simple little device seems to lock in those vibrations, making the guitar sing just a little bit better. I also tried it on a couple of Strats. While it didn't seem to have much effect on my early 80's ESP, the '73 Fender picked up about 2 seconds of sustain. Finally I tried it on a Martin 0-18; couldn't tell any difference there. Overall it seems to help the most with the thinnest neck, which is the PRS, So that's where I'll probably leave it.

Comments about Fender Fatfinger Guitar Sustain Enhancer:

It is described as working on all basses and guitars. Since I play the bass, this is all I can comment on.
80% of basses have a dead or dull note somewhere between G 4-7..(depending on the wood) even new and set up basses.
Wood vibrates at a certain resonance and steals the sustain. It's not your bass or frets fault. This occurs on guitars and in different areas as well.
This device claims to improve overall across the board sustain..or clarity. I can't speak to this. I think with this device, every instrument will react differently.
But by simply clamping this onto the headstock, and in most cases, it can return some, most or all of that lost sustain. You may need to try different positions on the headstock to find that sweet spot.
Note. There are some that find it doesn't work or they hear no improvement at all .
Just return it, you'll know right away if it works.
In my case it did work... a bit..I estimate I got 1/2 of what was missing back. It's cheap and light enough so I'll keep it on.
Overall, I'd say definitely give it a try..if you have this issue, you'll never find a cheaper, faster solution.
          Hope this helps you.

Nothing great about it. It's a worthless gimmick. Makes money for Fender and Guitar Center and the Post Office and Taxarodo (Colorado).
