Overview

Fender hails the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll and transports you back to 1967 with the introduction of the Elvis Kingman acoustic guitar-a sharp looking, rich-sounding, hip-swaying evocation of the freewheeling Fender acoustic that Elvis Presley wielded with consummate cool in ’67 cinematic romp Clambake.

In addition to honoring the King, the Elvis Kingman dreadnought also recreates Fender’s famous mid-’60s “Wildwood” finish, in which living beech trees that provided the backs and sides of the unusual instruments were dyed in several elegantly striking colors before being harvested.

Highly distinctive features include Presley’s signature on the front of the Wildwood-style headstock, solid spruce top with scalloped X bracing for full and resonant tone, laminated Wildwood-style back and sides, Ivoroid neck and body binding, stylish dual checkerboard rosette, maple neck, 20-fret rosewood fingerboard with block position inlays and bone nut, Fender “Viking” rosewood bridge with cream-colored pins and compensated bone saddle, chrome hardware and gloss neck and body finish.!

A new "KING" is born!

By Bryon Weaver

from Show Low, Arizona

I received my "KING" a few days ago and it is sweet! When I placed my order I hadn't played this guitar before, but I was hoping it would compare to a vintage 70's guitar my buddy had before he passed away. Like his, this guitar has a dreadnaught body with a "Stratlike" neck and headstock. I loved playing that guitar! He would never sell it to me!!! So this was my solution to getting one like his. So... With that said, I was anxious as to how this guitar would compare. Honestly, I think it's better! The finish and craftsmanship of the wood is superior to his. While the back and sides are a laminate, you can't tell it without close observation. As in magnifying glass! The craftsmanship gets 5 stars!!! As for the tone, I have played many more expensive guitars, including a Takamine I currently own, and have been not as impressed as I am with my "King". No it doesn't sound like a guitar costing thousands more, but for 400 bucks I don't think you can go wrong! And lastly, the playability of mine right out of the box was perfect! I like my action as low as I can get it without it buzzing like crazy. The action was set perfectly for bending the strings while playing the blues or country. I didn't need to do thing to it! I like that!!! Tune it up and play. That's how it should be!!! The only thing I would do different is the strap buttom on the bottom of the guitar. It comes with a plastic peg instead of a screwed in chrome one like it has for the front. I guess that's part of keeping it period correct for what Elvis played. All in all this a very nice affordable piece! I feel in time it might even a collectable! Glad I have mine already!!!

A strat with dreadnaught tone

By zack benner

from Mechanicsburg, PA

To begin, I have not looked at any of the specs on this guitar, have done no research. I am judging this guitar based on a recent visit to guitar center in Harrisburg. I never liked fender acoustics, but i love my strat, and this thing looked cool. I picked it up and played it a little and was very suprised by the guitar. I dont know if I just played one that was set up well or what, but this thing was an absolute blast to play. I gave it five stars for this reason; at 400 bucks, you can find some pretty decent guitars, but this one stands out to me as unique from the rest of the 400 dollar guitars out there. It is kind of gimmicky sounding at first, a strat-like acoustic, but it works, and works well. The sound is not out of this world. Perfectly adequate in its class, just not a standout for 400 dollars. Plain and simple, if you are looking for the best acoustic tone, dont bother with this guitar (try yamaha, lower martin, taylor, breedlove, some epiphone, silver creek). However, if you are looking for a guitar that is unique looking, incredibly easy to play, and downright enjoyable and comfortable to play, then try this out.
