Don't let Made in Mexico fool you, this is an awesome strat. I just love the tone, it rings like a bell when you want to, then roars when you crank up the volume or gain. I love all three pick ups, The Pearly gates is a perfect match for this guitar, and The Texas Specials are so beautiful and loud. The second position on the 5-Way switch is such a cool tone. Only problem I have is the frets are not rounded perfectly on the fret board and may make your hand raw if you play a lot and have sensitive skin, but I only really notice it when doing bar chords with sliding bar chords, also I maybe the only one with this problem since I haven't seen it in other reviews.
I've been playing for over 20 years, and have owned many different guitars, and this is one of my favorites.I picked this guitar up used, I don't think the previous owner ever played the guitar. I set it up to my liking, and I gotta tell you, I love this guitar, great tone, and a variety of different sounds can be had. The pickups are fantastic, the pearly gates is a little hotter than the Texas coils, but I expected that. I play all kinds of music from hard rock to country, and this guitar delivers. I recommend this guitar to anyone looking for a nice quality and great sounding guitar, but doesn't have the $$$ for an American made strat.
Great Strat, Great pups, the neck is fast and the tone is fantastic. I was not expecting this guitar to be this good. Tuners and tremolo stay in tune. The only things I had to do were set the intonation on 2 strings and reset the tremolo because I changed the strings to tens. I also adjusted the action. The sunburst finish on this thing is flawless. I am very happy I got this one.
This guitar sounds amazing. Went to Guitar Center over Easter weekend to take advantage of %15 off special, I resisted the temptation to buy one of the standard MIM strats they had available for take home that day and opted to order this one online. Arrived in three days and in perfect condition. Excellent choice, just buy it you want be disappointed.
Gotta take a star away for having such a crummy manual. It is a generic Fender 20 pamplet which covers ALL (Fender)guitars and basses. With a $600 guitar (normal retail price) I would like something better, a manual specific to Strats AND the model that I bought. The manual does state that if I want more specifics on my model, I should visit thier web-site. Haven't done it yet, but I will. OK, the guitar: LOVE the sound, it was exactly what I was looking for: twangy yet mellow. I had been considering a hollowbody electric, to get that bluesy sound ala B.B. King and the likes, but my economic situation forced me to have another look at the more affordable Strats. I chose this one because of the rosewood fretboard, high quality pickups, and positive reviews, and I am extremely satisfied with the results.
this guitar is the best guitar for somebody if you dont have enough money to get a american.it is in my opinion better than an american.i love the sd humbucker.its a great jazzy guitar with clean but when you put it on distortion it gives a big kick.it is a amazing guitar!!!!!
Big fan of ZZ Top, SRV, etc. blues rock music. Kudos to fender for making the lonestar for this. Pearly Gates plus has plenty of bite and Texas Specials sound very good thru my amp. Thanks to Clear Lake GC setup guy for taking care of fret buzz after putting new strings on. A 4 instead of 5 just because there are better strats out there but for mucho denero. The neck is fast and the guys at GC did great job helping me out. Came with a good soft gig bag.
I just got this guitar today as an early Christmas present and it is amazing. I play pearl jam, nirvana, aic type music and this guitar does it. I'd recommend it to anyone wanting to achieve that Seattle grunge style.
I was thinking of buying a guitar to play rock and heavy metal , i saw many guitars, iba+/-ez, epiphone, but i also wanted to play heavier rock, so the last guitar i imagined to buy was a strat. but after a while i saw this beautifull strat with everything i needed, the guitar comes with amazing texas special single coils, perfect for every kind of rock and blues, and the seymour duncan humbucker with the tone for heavy, and all into a strat, wich in my opinion is one of the best looking guitar you can get and its also the most comfortable guitar ever. i couldnt be happier about this guitar, fender made me a strat fan after playing this guitar, i hardly recomend it.... sorry if my english isnt good....
I bought this guitar about two years ago. It is AWESOME! The humbuckers give it nice deep tone. But it can also get high if you need it too. I play a little bit of everything from blues and country to hard rock and metal. Its very versatile. It also stays in tune really good (I've had it tuned two steps down without any problems). The only problem is that the input likes to come loose. It's an easy fix, but it's still annoying. Other than that, its a great guitar with many sounds that you'll fall in love with instantly.
