Overview

The Fender American Stratocaster Electric Guitar is a Fender icon. Juicy upgrades include a richer, deeper neck tint for a more elegant and expensive appearance; glossed neck front for improved looks with satin back for smooth playability; and bent steel Fender saddles with classic look and great tone. String spacing is narrowed for modern playability, saddle height screws are resized to reduce rough feel, and string slot on saddle is elongated to reduce string friction or breakage. The Copper Infused Cast Strat® Bridge Block (steel with copper”100% metal) provides increased mass and improved tone. This Strat features the original headstock shape but has staggered machine heads losing one string tree and improving string angle over the nut. Custom staggered pickup magnets improve string-to-string balance and give the G-string better tone. Cosmetics include parchment/black/parchment pickguard and parchment pickup covers, knobs, and tips.

The return of the American Standard Series Strat continues Fender's tradition of commitment to the people who play Fender instruments out there in the real world. Today's American Standard Stratocaster guitars are worthy heirs of their revered ancestors”mindful of player needs and taking full advantage of modern advances, yet remaining completely true to the elements and spirit that made these instruments popular in the first place. They feature excellent bridges, neck and body finishes, and a Fender-exclusive high-tech molded case. Still on board for the American Standard Strat are the beloved hand-rolled fingerboard edges, Alnico V pickups, the Delta system that includes a high-output bridge pickup and a special no-load tone control, providing more gain, more high end, and a little more "raw" tone, and staggered tuning machines for tone and stability guaranteed to last a lifetime (with its limited lifetime warranty)!

American Standard Strat® Bridge
Gives sought-after tone with modern smooth trem travel. Block retains the mass and tone of a vintage bridge block, but is chamfered for access to deeper dives. Saddles have the classic look and tone, but with modern improvements (spacing, slot elongation, height, screw length).

Bridge Component Specifics
American Standard saddles - The original vintage-style Fender bent steel adjustable saddle is one of the components that give vintage Fenders their tonal 'mojo.' Fender conducted tone comparison tests, and fell in love with them all over again. They have a wider tonal range and more character many other saddles. Then Fender improved them; narrowing the spacing to afford more room (and complement the bigger frets and rolled edges), elongated the string slot to reduce friction and string breakage, and improved the string break angle over the primary contact point.

Tone-fusion block - A typical cast bridge block is impregnated with a resin to eliminate voids in the material and to bond it together ¦ this steel block is infused with copper, which makes the block 100% homogeneous metal. The result is a more musical, higher mass bridge that has more of that machined-block sound. Fender was also able to keep the same American Series profile for increased tremolo travel.

I bought this yesterday, plugged it nt and was blown away This guitar's tone is better than the Clapton sig I own. The picture does not do this axe justice.. 1st because they tinted the neck .. it looks really sweet.. great touch.. but yah, looks are not the most important thing here .. the new vintage saddles deliver a richer tone .. yes, i'm not a big fan of a floating trem, but it's an improvement over the previous american strat saddles, BELIEVE ME.. listen for yourself.. anyway- maybe traditional strat fans will not initially give this new axe a chance, and some part of me didn't want this axe to be any better, but after playing it myself and hearing the richer tones delivered out of this new axe, i am recomending this new Strat to anyone who is lucky enough to get their hands on one .. Good luck to all!

My first mistake, ordering a guitar online. Had difficulty getting the Black Friday discount on checkout page. So I phoned in the order. Don't get me wrong the people a GC.com phone people are fantastic 5Star. The kid I spoke with got my order right and was able to incorporate all my info from the online sight. Also got me the promised discount. The guitar arrived in a timely mannner. I ordered the Candy Cola w/rosewood model. UPS Ground delivery, the box was not crushed but had a few scrapes but nothing to lead me to believe that the guitar was damaged. Opened the case and it looked marvelous. Could not wait to play my new toy and after about and hour and a half of constantly tuning. I set it down and figured it need to acclimate to my house temp. Then I really got to looking at the guitar and noticed a 1/4 inch sized dent in the top rolled egde. Upon further inspection of the case noticed that it too was dinged up in the same location. Thankfully GC is a quality company and I was willing to return this guitar to the local store and I upgraded to a Les Paul Traditional Plus Ice tea burst. This I actually played and am in love with. The people at the GC in Portage Michigan are fantastic and I will never buy another guitar online. I may window shop but I will have them order it in. This whole problem had to occure at the Fender factory. So take note your online purchase may not be the dream you expected.

Timeless

Comments about Fender American Standard Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

THE strat, the American Standard has been the "center of gravity" of fender. Now they've gone and made more final finishes to the #1 guitar, further raising the standard. The new strats have a very nice feel to them, subtle yet noticeable and desirable. An absolute buy!

Awesome Guitar

By Rocka Billy

from America

Comments about Fender American Standard Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I picked up this guitar after months of exhausting research. I went through every make on earth, and nothing touches the sound of the strat. The finish on this guitar is beautiful. The body is light weight and the frets are awesome. Actually the frets are another reason why I made the choice - it is very easy to make your barre chords on this neck. The frets are hand worn on the sides so it feels like it is already broken in. I compared it to other Strats and this one just felt like home. The Alnico V pickups give you that popping sound that strats are famous for, but they are a little noisy. The new bridge is fantastic. Sustain is incredible, and it stays in tune pretty well with the stock tuners. As with any Strat you buy if you don't like something on it you can change it.

Fender is making the best guitars EVER!

By Kevin

from Springfield, Virginia

Comments about Fender American Standard Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

OK, I am 50 years old, and have been playing guitar since I was 7. I have seen many Fender instruments over the years, but I must say that in 2008, Fender released the American Standard Stratocaster, and the improvements, as well as the incredible craftmanship made it one of the finest instruments that I have ever seen. I already own a 2008 American Standard Strat, Sienna Sunburst with a rosewood neck, and also a 2008 American Standard Telecaster, 2 tone sunburst with a maple neck, but these guitars are so fantasdtic, well, I had to get another. I stayed with the American Standard Strat, but this time purchased a black body with a maple neck. It arrived yesterday in the mail, and is beautiful. It plays like silk, has impeccable craftsmanship, and has a tone that howls history as well as the possibilities of any musical future... Once again Fender has lived up to its name, reputation, and place as a true American, and Rock ~n~ Roll icon.

Amazing Guitar!!

By Adam

from Kansas

Comments about Fender American Standard Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I was very hesitant of buying something at this price range, while on a lower budget, and question if it was worth the money... After playing it, I just began to love it more and more each day.. It has an amazing neck (I have the maple fretboard 3-tone sunburst)... It also the one of the brightest tones out of the guitars I have played.. You might consider changing the strings, but after that, this guitar is a beauty.

Better every day

By mad skillz mahk

from Saginaw MI

Comments about Fender American Standard Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar about 8 months ago. This is my first strat, and I like it better every day. My Gibson Melody Maker and Les Paul Standard used to be my go-to guitars. What can I say, I have gotten used to the longer Fender scale, I can play cleaner because there is more spacing, and with the clean sound of the single coil pickups my playing has taken on some new twists. The tuners are great, unless doing a lot of dive bombs with the whammy bar the guitar stays in tune quite well. The action is low, but no buzzes, intonation is easily adusted so it plays in tune all the way up the neck. The best thing about this strat is the tone. Switch positions 2 and 4 give awsome crytal clear bell like tones that no Gibson could ever hope to produce. This has become my favorite guitar to pick up and play. I love it.

Written by a Gibson Guy

By David

from Indianapolis, IN

Comments about Fender American Standard Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I bought one of these on a whim about a year and a half ago (candy cola, rosewood fret board). I have always played Gibsonۡs (two LPs and an SG), but figured every guitar player should have a Stratocaster. Mine arrived perfect out of the box EXCEPT it had a bow in the neck that was corrected with a truss rod adjustment. Either the factory didnۡt put any tension on the truss rod at all (it was almost loose), or, the wood dried in the 9 months it sat in the warehouse (probably the reason). Iۡm still a Gibson guy and have never been able to get comfortable with the way the guitar feels or plays, but it is not the guitarۡs fault. The tremolo bar is good, and unless you really whale on it, the guitar stays in tune when you use it. The finish was perfect out of the box. Good set up from the factory as far as intonation and string height. Tuning keys are rock solid and the guitar stays in tune for long periods of time ۡ and I play a lot of leads, so the strings get bent a lot. Fret work is very good, no sharp ends or anything. I donۡt care for coil pickups as much as Humbuckers for distorted play, BUT, when I play this guitar through my Fender Twin on the clean channel, the bell ringing like tone (especially using the neck pickup) is unbelievable. And I can get a Eddie Van Halen like brown out sound using the bridge pickup with the tone turned down to two. Compared to Gibson Humbuckers, the tonal range of the pickups is also much broader and the tone knobs much more responsive. That, combined with the five position switch allows me to dial in pretty much any tone I want.

Birds Can't Sing This Well

By Andy B.

from Akron, Ohio

Comments about Fender American Standard Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I am a fairly experienced guitar player (4 years). I started out playing a cheap imitation strat and then upgraded to an Epiphone Les Paul. I feel I should own something made in the USA. I played this guitar at the local guitar center and I was blown away. I love everything about it. The neck was just so smooth and the finish options are astounding (mine was a maple olympic white). Sound wise I cant tell you enough. This guitar can hit ANY tone you want it to hit. From bluesy tunes to heavily distorted metal effects. I feel there are no flaws in this guitar. I will buy the one I played as soon as I get the money. Go get one and have fun!

Great Guitar

By Steve K

from Virginia Beach, VA

Comments about Fender American Standard Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

Ever since my '69 Strat was stolen some years ago, I've wanted another one. I broke down and bought this guitar 6 months ago. It is a much better guitar than I remember my old one being. The neck feels perfect in my hand and plays like butter. I'm amazed at how great this guitar stays in tune no matter how much string pulling I do. The sound is that classic Strat sound which I absolutely love. I intend to have this guitar for a long, long time and won't be lending it to "friends".

Excellent

By Maddog Craw

from Waterbury CT

Comments about Fender American Standard Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I've been playing for quite a number of years and have had different strats along the way. This one I feel the most comfortable with. The alder body is warm and rich, the maple neck is smooth and feels semi broken-in, even when new. The staggered pickup magnets make a big difference in my opinion. The stock pickups are good and deliver a wide range of warm and bluesy to bright and rocking. As with any guitars not all are exactly the same. I played 3 identical models and they all sounded different, I found the one that was most comfortable and pleasing to me, although they all sounded good. Everyone has their own personal idea of what their ideal tone is. All in all it delivers some great strat sounds and holds up well when heavily played.

Glad that I waited for this one!

By Lana

from Arlington, VA

Comments about Fender American Standard Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I have been eyeing over the latest Fender offerings for the past two years to find the Strat that captured as many of the qualities that I felt I needed/wanted in a quitar. I own a few other strats and 2 telecasters, but these are mostly collector items and not something that I feel that I can jam on with complete abandon. I had been kicking myself for passing up a custom strat that offered many of the features that this model offers -- Delta Tone electronics, smooth neck, and frets that don't feel like speedbumps for almost twice the price. Well, I am now glad that I waited because this strat fills all of my needs and then some. The sound of this guitar is amazing and I feel that it sounds better than the Deluxe version played side-by-side on the same amp. the tone is truely amazing and just more than I could have hoped for in a guitar that is not officially "vintage." The neck is as smooth as I remember the custom as being, and it plays like a dream. The case with all of its candy is the best that Fender has put out in a long while. On an ending note, sometimes I get "buyers remorse" after making a guitar purchase (I own 17), but not with this one. I can't imagine letting this one out of my hands until the day I die. I think that this guitar will be thought of as a classic at some point. Fender did everything right.

What can I say?

By Alejandro Elizondo

from Miami, FL

Comments about Fender American Standard Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

This guitar is just awesome, I can't put into words what I felt when I plugged it into a Fender Hot Rod Deville 212 lll it was magical. I ordered it with a maple neck and in some situations its a bit too bright but you can deal with it by lowering the treble in the amp. The playability is excellent I own a Slash Les Paul and it gets uncomfortable around the 15 fret but with this one I can play the 22 frets without difficulties. The picks work great, like one of the ZZ Top guitar players said, "well, they just work" the guitar is perfect just the way it comes from the Fender fabric in Corona, California. If you're struggling with buying this guitar or another stop looking this is the one, really versatile with tone. The best one.

The cleanest tone you'll hear from 6 strings

By Rick Haag

from Phoenix Az

Comments about Fender American Standard Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I received this guitar as a gift for my military retirement, so it was not something I intentionally bought. I was never a fan of strats, as I favor the Les Pauls, but I cannot argue, this guitar has the cleanest tone I've ever heard, only a Telecaster can match it. It plays very well and sounds excellent (on clean channels). I haven't used the Tremolo (I'm simply no good with them) so I can't comment on how well they stay in tune without the aid of a locking nut. Either way, it's not something I'm going trade in, I've come to like the sound and it's given me a new perspective on playing styles of music I've never tried before, like country and slow blues. If you're looking for a "Metal" guitar, look elswhere, but if you want an excellent quaility guitar with the cleanest sound, then stop looking, you just found it.

Awesome Fender Guitar

By P.

from Raleigh, NC

Comments about Fender American Standard Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I purchased the American Standard strat in olympic white with maple fretboard. It looks amazing! When I recieved the guitar it was in excellent condition even though it had a pretty long trip in shipping. Just needed to be tuned and then it was ready to play. I really like the smooth feel of the neck. The pick-ups are hot and sound great and with the five-way selector switch it has a broad range of tonal options. This is definately one of the best guitars I have ever played. I play mostly hard rock and metal and the leads and high notes really sing on it. You will be pleasantly surprised with the sound and feel of this classic instrument.

Comments about Fender American Standard Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

This baby is all the guitar I ever needed! It is extremely versatile; It can handle anything including screaming metal solos(with a little help from a noise suppressor). The quality of this guitar is superb. The price is not too steep and if you are serious about playing the guitar, you should definitely invest in the strat.

Absolutely Incredible

By Bobby Dorrance

from Amherst, Ohio

Comments about Fender American Standard Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

Words can not explain how amazing this guitar is. I traded in my les paul custom for this thing and i have no regrets. This machine can make any noise or reach any tone you want it too. Its light weight, it feels right in your hands and is very smooth all over. The necks are extremely nice with the medium jumbo frets. I highly recommend this guitar to anyone who looking for one. I got the olympic white with maple neck just like hendrix, and its breathtaking. After playing for about 5 hours straight, i stared at it for another two or three. Aside from the great guitar, the case it comes with is extremely nice and secure, and the goodies that come with it are very nice too. GET THIS GUITAR, YOULL HAVE NO REGRETS!!!

The Champion UP THE IRONS!

By Iron Maiden Fan

from Pearl City, Hawaii

Comments about Fender American Standard Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I have been a fan of the Fender Stratocaster for a long time, so when I heard that Fender had redesinged the guitar for 2008, I was interested. I tried out an Olympic White Stratocaster with a rosewood fretboard. I was very impressed. The guitar has all the features that are classic Stratocaster, but yet, it has been given many new features that make this guitar easily the best guitar on the market or in the history of Strats. Sad thing is that these features are the ones few will notice. Such as the improved whammy bar, the new neck, the new body finish, etc. I ended up buying the guitar that day, but, since I'm a huge fan of Iron Maiden, I replaced the pickups, which are amazing for anything except death metal and that stuff but I don't play that stuff anyways so whatever, with Seymour Duncan Hot Rails. I am very satisfyed with this guitar. UP THE IRONS!
