  • Hear you - loud & clean!

As reviewed by Larry in MA on 4/29/2009

65 Twin Reissue: The daddy of all things big and clear. The absence of confusing parameter controls is a virtue. You have volume, EQ, reverb, and vib/trem. The beauty is in the tone - that vocal, chimey, pure FENDER-ness that cannot be imitated. You get flawless clean power with extremely comfortable headroom. If you have spent big bucks souping up a Strat or some other awesome guitar, this is the vehicle for showing it off. It takes the statement from your axe and makes it VERY public without altering the message. I have a Strat with Duncan Antiquity custom-wound Texas Hot pickups and when I play it through the Twin it can go between singing angelically and snarling like a junkyard dawg (but you do need a stomp box to junkyard-snarl). This amp will put closure on your search for the perfect tone.

  • Twin, I love you!

As reviewed by steve on 9/20/2010

This amp is very sweet. You can play any style you like with the right pedals. It shines using it clean or with a TS-9. Its shines playing country, Reaggae, ska, oldies. It fills any size room with ease without a mic in front. Just use stage volume in any bar room. Sounds best at volume on 4 and higher so set it on at least 4 in smaller rooms and set your guitar volume knob. (Thats what I do and I use it without pedals, just clean most of the time) The reverb is the best there is and throws it out in the crowd so a little goes a long way. The bright switch is perfect for those crowded rooms when you need to cut through or with other guitarists playing. The controls work nicely with a noticable difference with each number to fine tune your sound. My amp is a 2002. Bought used,Ive had it over a year now and works fine. Tubes get very hot I use a fan behind all my tube amps. The pilot light flickers, but oh well. Its cool. I put JJ tubes in it but Im not impressed and will go back to Sovtek or GT's when ever. Dont buy into the JJ tube hype. The amp sounds awsome, just saying. This amp is heavy, buy a flat cart at Tractor Supply, the 4 wheel kind or a hand truck(dolly) or buy casters at Home Depot like I did. I would buy again if need. Hope your back can lift it.

  • Great sounding amp

As reviewed by Liquidirt on 5/18/2010

I use a VG set up so I really needed an amp that could deliver a clean plate. I tried the Fender Reverb Delux, sounded good but not enough head room for me when I wanted that total clean sound of a twelve string guitar. This amp does it, but I will say does it a whole lot better with an extension cab. I play clean blues to full throttle metal with this thing using the VG88 guitar synth from Roland, and everyone looks at my amp. They cannot believe the metal to to the clean acoustic tones coming out loud and clear. I do have a 4X12 Marshall cab that I run with it, I call it my Fendall set-up. Freakin head room for days no matter how loud our drummer gets. This is the Holy Grail of ANY amp. This amp SCREAMS! I absolutely love this amp. The only down side to this amp, is that it is very freakin heavy. Trust me, I have used different amps and NOTHING compares to this amp.
