This is my all time favorite amp. I've been playing music on and off for 35 years and I've owned 3 Fender Twins. This last one is the only one I've purchased new. This amp provides a warm tone that brings my music to life. I primarily play a custom 5 string electric mandolin, with Armstrong pickups, but also use it for my electric fiddles. The tone on the mandolin with the Fender twin is rich and full. Electric fiddles are notoriously difficult to amplify, but I can plug into the Twin and get a sweet tone that's deep and not too trebly. It's a heavy amp and if you're gigging I would advise investing in a road case. I'm not going to knock the amp for its weight. It's the nature of the beast and part of the tube amp lore. You haven't lived until you've hauled one up two flights of stairs!! Get a road case, it's a lot easier to transport and helps protect your amp from damage. The Fender is still my favorite tube amp. If you've been trying to decide on a tube amp, this is "the amp" to buy.

I've had my Twin for some years now. As stated in many other reviews, great clean tones, fantastic overdrive from the overdrive channel. All the power and drive you need unless you're playing stadium size gigs. Even in that case, you could mike it and cut. However, if you're a metal player who needs two Marshall stacks to get the sound and power you want, obviously it's not the set up for you. One word of caution, it's heavy. In my opinion, it should have two handles on top, not one. Other than that, it's a fantastic amp. Great value as well. You'll pay twice as much for a comparable Marshall and the like.

I have owned this amp for 5 years, now. Got it in '06. At first I was a little stymied by its sound. Not quite disappointed, but puzzled. But I just kept on fiddling with the tone controls, and cranking along. Seems like one day, it just WORKED! I guess the circuits and speakers need some break-in time, so play the hell out of it and it will be your friend for life. Have used a lot of different amps, but this one has the BEST TONE EVER. I run my pedalboard effects into the clean channel, and it just sounds amazing. It's tone is very warm, with ballsy bottom and crisp attack. Never harsh. Just running straight into the amp with no other effects but reverb, amp distortion, and tremelo is pure joy. I can't say enough good things about this amp. The only other amp I've owned that sounds this good is my '65 Bassman head. Whatever guitar and whatever pickup compliment you put into it absolutely shines! Buy it. Play it. Love it. You won't be let down.

I've had my twin for 9 years now and it is the best sounding amp that I've used to gig out with. I'm a fender guy from the day I was born. My father played a 59 Vibrolux and I still play it today. Yes it's been re-tubed and fixed though I still have the original tubes that came with the amp and it retains it's original cover and working foot switch, made out of a block of wood. These amps never get old they jsut get better sounding as the years go on. Wish I had another twin just like it and a roadie to cart them to the gigs for me because they weigh a ton.

This review starts out bad but ends good, so read the whole thing if you really want to know what I think of it. I bought this amp two years ago new, and it arrived with a damaged spring reverb. So after owning it a day I had to take it into a Fender authorized repair center and wait another two weeks to play it. Fender fixed it at no charge of course, and the good thing is that the service center (Uncle Albertۡs, Indianapolis) tore it apart and tested every circuit, tube, and speaker for other defects. The repair shop said one of the solders on the reverb cracked, probably during shipping. Once I got it back though, I wasnۡt real happy with the sound. I had played a number of Fender Twins over the years and loved the creamy rich distortion and the bell like ring of the clean channel. This amp sounded harsh, like a solid state amp. I almost sold it a couple of times because I really didnۡt like it. But after owning it over a year, the sound started to change. I donۡt know if the speakers are stiff when they are new, or the tubes need to be used for a while, or what. But this amp has slowly become what I thought I was buying in the first place. It has a rich, creamy distortion on the gain channel ۡ all I need for AC-DC, Guns and Roses, and others and that Fender bell like ring on the clean channel. The best feature of all is the 25 watt switch on the back that cuts it down from 100 watts but doesnۡt change the sound at all. So you can get the preamp nice and hot on 4 or 5 without blowing you ears out or having the police show up for bothering the neighbors. I have no intention of selling her now!

THIS AMP IS ALL ANYONE NEEDS FOR GUITAR PURPOSES. It has the power, the tone, the crisp, the crunch, ,lows that will shake your pants and highs that will render you speechless. In my opinion and throughout my 18 year career in music and with my experience in using many, many other amplifiers, this is the best one of them all. I have played through Mesa Boogies, Soldanos, other fenders, marshalls, Vox, Crates, Musicman, kustom, peavey and many more and there is no amp better built nor with a better sound. I see the comments on the lack of the metal sound..,plug in your favorite pedal and see for yourself. AWSOME is the only word for this amplifier.
