  • I Can't Put It Down!

As reviewed by HackerGirl on 4/25/2007

This is a beautifully crafted instrument. The slim neck is very comfortable to play...FasT... great for smaller hands. I've gone through several bass exchanges and when I picked this one up I knew I had found "Mine!". The unique active/passive pickup design gives this bass a very unique sound. It's great and unique in either mode. It even sounds awesome when it's not plugged in! The active setting is super ballsy but not muddy at all and there is very little buzz on the low string (as is a frequent problem with other 5 strings). You can play super fast, staccato, and it's clear in all settings. The workmanship that went into this bass is really remarkable. The beauty will strike you immediately and will continue to grow on you. I find myself admiring each unique line of the wood; the warmth and subtle changes in the natural aged finish; really awesome... I've never had an instrument that inspired me to play it so much. I find myself not wanting to put it down and running back to pick it up. It's so much fun to play this bass... minutes drift into hours.

  • 5 String 1970's Jazz Bass

As reviewed by Jacoiwishiwas. on 11/13/2007

Awesome bass! It's a five string with late 70's flair and style. All electronics, components, and hardware is top quality. This bass sounds different than it's four string counterpart. In passive mode it's a bright sounding Jazz Bass. In active mode it still has a nice natural sound but with more bottom, punch, and treble. Where the four string model sounds totally different in active mode, this bass sounds enhanced and uncolored. The natural sound of the bass is brought more out front. The construction is flawless and beautiful. I got the Vintage White one. I love the 7 1/4 fretboard radius and the urethane finish on the neck and board. This bass is a Classic in every way. Worth every penny!

  • Totally Awesome!

As reviewed by Jacoiwishiwas. on 11/12/2007

This is in fact the best bass I've ever played, period! The craftsmanship is excellent, the materials top notch. This feels more like something that came out of the Fender Custom shop. The neck is to die for. The bass has an old school feel about it. It feels like it was made back in the 70's. The tone is wonderful in either mode. The active mode adds a lot of power and bottom, the passive mode is traditional and growly. The action is the lowest I have ever achieved ever and there's NO FRET BUZZ! When you hold this bass you can feel the quality. The 7 1/4 radius on the fretboard makes playing fast passages a breeze. I cannot say enough good things about this bass. Yes it's pricey but you get what you pay for. This is a bass you will keep for a lifetime. I got the Vintage White one because I didn't want to cop Marcus' vibe totally, I wanted some of my own thing too, but I did put DR Fatbeams on, I just love Marcus' tone. A Vintage Classic re-surfaced with a touch of modern technology. This bass was sent from God Himself!
