Take the best-selling Fender bass pickups in the world, then overwind them for more punch, midrange, bass, and output, and you've got these '60s Jazz Bass tone monsters. The Fender Custom Shop J-Bass Pickup Set is constructed with Alnico 5 magnets and Formvar magnet wire for serious thump and growl. OEM on many Fender Custom Shop basses.
These pick ups add the classic depth and tone of a vintage bass. I put them into my 2005 Highway One Jazz and it warmed up the sound and gave a stronger presence. Easily installed.
I've had these pickups for two years. These pickups are easily installed and the difference in tone is absolutely immediate. I put them in my '04 Mexi Jazz and the difference over the stock pickups is incredible. Put both on high and get a nice well balanced sound suitable for even hard rock; solo the bridge finger-style for a nice funk sound; or solo the neck for some nice low and mellow work. Superb attack with a pick, clear punch with slap, and amazing harmonics from the bridge. Only drawbacks I've found are from too much pressure, causing the solder points on the pickup side can become loose making them cut out. Throw an extra dab of solder on them and you're back in business! Best pickups I've owned!
These pick ups are it! I put these into my Carvin LB20 and WOW! What Tone! I love the way my Carvin plays, and the tone was ok when I was playing metal. But now I'm playing blues and rock n roll and these pick ups give me the organic vintage tone, that made me fall in love with bass a life time ago. Be aware that the warrentee is only good if your are a "fender service tech". If you aren't, you may want to order them through the tech that will install them. I did the work my self, and I love the tone that I'm getting now, pumping my LB20 through my new Fender Tv Duo Ten, awesome, just awesome!
