The Evans Hybrid Coated Snare Drum Batter Head, originally baptized on the football field, is a drumhead that is durable to the extreme, yet does not sacrifice sensitivity. This is a result of the use of 2 unique high-tensile fibers, one chosen for flexibility and the other for durability. The snare batter drumhead answers the wishes of heavy rockers, delivering heightened attack and unprecedented resistance to breaking. The most durable of Evans heads, the hybrid coated snare drumhead offers an intriguing aesthetic. A layer of Evans' unique "frosted" coating allows the gray twill inner weave to clearly show through.
The Evans Hybrid Snare Drum Batter head borrows from its revolutionary sister, the Hybrid Marching Snare Batter and, thus, is the most durable of Evans' drum set heads and is already in use by metal drummers Bobby Jarzombek and Mike Wengren. These artists are delighting in having a drumhead that provides such extreme durability and attack without sacrificing feel or sensitivity.
The Evans Hybrid Snare Drum Batter head answers the prayers of heavy hitters. Evans has not only given them an exceptionally durable head; it has provided a drumhead that projects better across a wide dynamic range.

Everything about this snare head is immaculate. The sound, the dynamics, the unusual texture, even the appearance of it looks sleek. I don't know what those two certain fibers are that are intertwined with one another, but they deliver great justice in the name of Evans. I did not run into a single problem installing this jem, and got her sounding marvelous within 5 minutes. I have never experienced such intense rebound from striking a stick down on a snare (besides a marching snare), this easily beats all. You can clearly distinguish each individual note played regardless of speed, which is great as I utilize the gravity blast technique. With my old snare, doing so would create a loud, blurred together sound. With this head, you can clearly hear 32nd notes within a reasonable tempo, or as fast as I can play anyway. So far, I haven't noticed any wear and tear, let alone marks on the snare since I have had it, which was an unusual surprise for me as I relentlessly beat my drum set when playing it, typically breaking my sticks within a week or two. It seriously looks brand new as it did out of the box. I cannot imagine I will be buying a new head within the year at this rate, something I never would anticipate with any drum head, but this one takes the cake. Overall, perfect, crisp and clear tone, outstanding quality, and it looks good. If I am to break this snare head, I will be back for more.
I have had this head for a year and a couples months now and it still sounds as if it just came right out of the box. I am amazed by it's sound and durability. This head stay in tune for a long time once you get it just right. I am honestly astounded. Lastly, I find it amazing how I can go from heavy stuff to jazz in an instant with this head; ghost notes are my fav.
When you take this snare head out of the box it looks so flimsy like it is a cheap snare but once you start to tighten it on your snare it just becomes so amazing like a sound you have never heard before. This snare will stay on my drumset until it breaks!
I was a little scared of spending $50 on a snare head, but I have no regrets. My snare drum sings and is super sensative. I am a huge fan of ghost notes and this head brings every single one to life. Amazing head. Spend the money and grab one.
Bought this to give it a try and am amazed, tuned effortlessly, sounds incredible,I've tried almost every head out there and am currently playing on a Warlord Tama Spartan would highly recommend
I currently have mines on a 14 x 7 Ocop Snare and it brings life and feeling in it. I love it man and you will too.
these evan hybrid snare heads are the bomb very durable!!! also its good for marching and a regular drum set snare.very good if your a rock player highly recommend and after you get these heads it will be awhile till they are replaced.
I got wind of this drumhead from a metal drummer, although it was pricey, I took a chance. This drumhead is worth every penny and some. I have a Ludwig Acrolite snare. The original sound is sweet, but I wanted to crank out more from it. When I installed the Evans Hybrid , as far as I was concerned I had a brand new snare drum , Meaner, more powerful, and a crazy rimshot . Buy this head, you will not be disappointed !
This hybrid head is very good. It was easy to tune and it is very loud. It is a little short on the attack while the tone goes away very quickly. While it's very novel, I don't think it's 50.00 dollars novel. I hope the durability justifies the cost. Overall, 4 stars!
I wouldn't have ever thought to try this head. I ordered a custom snare online and as I opened the package I saw this. They sent the Evans Hybrid snare head and I didn't know what to expect. I took the snare out of the box and tuned it a bit. It feels like a substantial, thick skin. Tuning was fairly easy, and I noticed that even though it was thick, it was still VERY plyable. I usually use the Remo controlled sound or Emporer X, but I figured I'd give this head a chance. WOW! Not only was it more versatile than I thought, but it was SENSITIVE. When I laid into it, a fat and woody bark came out. I have had a chance to play this head in every situation possible: cover gigs, church, and in a super high engery LOUD alt-rock band. In all situations this head absolutely blew me away. I would do soft ghost notes near the edges and it was SUPER warm and sensitive. I would do rim shots all day and just a huge, woody, round fat tone would come. You can FEEL your snare with this head on. I have had it for about 4 months now, and there is no signs of wear. None. Only in the reflection of a light can you barely see stick marks on this thing. I am very impressed with this, and I think it is worth $$$ for its sound, feel, and durability. Get one.
