Majesty

Ernie Ball Music Man

Description

Featuring laser-etched maple that's finished to resemble carbon fiber, the Majesty guitar boasts a super-lightweight body with unparalleled fret access, DiMarzio voicing and an ebony fretboard with the Majesty logo (for Dream Theater's original moniker) above the first fret. Music Man's Majesty guitar was a hot topic leading up to the 2014 NAMM Show.

The Majesty comes with Music Man's Game Changer technology, which is used to enhance the switching speed of the 3-way and the piezo to HH switch. True to form, the audio signal is never digitized or modeled in any way, providing a transparent analog signal path for the absolute purist.

Includes case.

"The Majesty guitar symbolizes the very reason why I am so proud to be a Music Man artist. I had the idea for this guitar a couple of years ago but it is because of their innovative spirit and dedication to the art of guitar building that it is now a reality.

I wanted to push the boundaries of sound, feel, design, ergonomics and esthetics and from day one Sterling and the Music Man engineering team were completely on board and committed to the project. It's all about asking the right questions; 'How can we make this guitar sound and look better, feel lighter and easier to play?' 'How can we make access to the upper frets even easier, make the guitar an even more versatile creative tool while designing a modern, sleek and beautifully crafted musical instrument?'

Those questions were pondered and answered by head engineer on the project, Drew Montell and tested, tried and questioned again and again by myself Sterling and Dudley over the past 2+ years. Things that we learned and loved about my previous JP signature models were carried over such as the fast neck contour, fretboard radius and stainless steel frets while new additions such as the Game Changer circuit were added to make the Majesty even more incredible.

The preamp and volume boost from the JP13 that I absolutely love was also kept onboard along with my signature DiMarzio 'Illuminator' pickups while a complete change to the body design and the incredibly creative "Maple-Carbon-Fiber" laser etched top was added as a really slick aesthetic touch.

Lastly, the mirrored 1st fret Dream Theater 'Majesty' logo and beautiful pearlescent frozen paint make the guitar look like its ready to be wielded on the battlefield. Truth is, I can't put the Majesty down! I am so grateful that I am able to collaborate with the best guitar company on the planet and so incredibly proud that together we have created what is to me, the perfect musical instrument for guitar players. I really hope you get a chance to play one and am confident that you will feel the same!"

Maj-ical guitar indeed!!

I never write reviews, but in this instance, I felt compelled to do so. I received my EBMM Majesty this Saturday and the guitar is an absolute revelation. Never, in my 28 years of playing guitar, have I ever found a guitar that I would ever rate a 10 out of 10, but I certainly would in this case? ?I own a EBMM JP6, as well as a EBMM JP13. Prior to getting this guitar, I rated them an 8 and a 9 respectfully. While superbly crafted in their own right, neither of these guitars can match the ergonomics, the sleek modern looks, the tone, and the resonance of the Majesty. The Illuminator pickups are smooth and fluid, but with all the necessary gain that one would require of a modern metal guitar. The ebony fingerboard is an absolute delight - its dense and smooth, and feels like butter under your fingers. As a special point of emphasis, this is one of the lightest, most compact guitars you'll ever find. The body is what I would describe as downright tiny! Comparatively, the Majesty's body width is 12" whereas the JP6 is 12 1/2" and the JP13 is 12 3/8". The neck is sleek and thin, the fretboard [at 17" radius] is essentially flat, but comfortable. The factory action is very low, with no buzz or rattle. Tuning stability is exceptional. Honestly I agonized for days about the purchase of the guitar. I know that the stock photos online are absolutely horrible [the guitar does NOT photograph well] and this has led to a very polarized opinion on the aesthetics of the guitar. Let me assure you that when you're in physical proximity of this guitar it is STUNNING. You honestly get an opportunity to appreciate the level of attention that has gone into the dimension and the shaping of the instrument - something that 2D photos can't capture. If you're on the fence trying to decide whether or not to try the Majesty, do yourself a favor?it is WELL worth the investment!

what's all the hype about

The first time i saw this I was so excited about the look of it and could not wait till it came into the store so I could hold it... nine months later I found one in a G.C. in tempe, Az. as soon as the salesman handed it to me I noticed how light it was (too Light) and how extremely flat the fretboard was. I plugged it in and yikes... there was fret buzz every step of the way. I brought this to the sales-mans attention and he said that his tech would fix it and i should come back and try it in a few days or so... i did just that... it was three weeks later when I plugged it in for a second time... and once again it was still buzzing all up and down the neck. All in all this is a real disappointing guitar and there were many things wrong with this piece besides the buzz, which I will not go into as they are personal dislikes as apposed to technical maladies. The only positive thing I can say is that it looks cool... hence the one star rating.

This guitar is overall an amazing instrument but almost as amazing is that no one ever talks about how it requires three AAA batteries otherwise the pickup circuit doesn't work at all.

  • Nice guitar

When I picked this up it was so easy to play I actually had a difficult time with it. The action is crazy low and the steel frets are so slippery that I was pulling everything sharp. You need a light touch with this axe. It is very unique and crazy good. The quality is top notch and it sounds amazing. You can do anything you want with this guitar. Anything! It's freaky good and worth the money. Huge props to Ernie Ball for taking a big chance with such a strange looking and feeling instrument. It is the real deal. Not for everyone tho. It doesn't feel like your fathers guitar. This is guitar production at its best and most impressive. They took a risk and they pulled it off in an amazing way.

Had this for three months now and can't put it down. JP6 is hanging on the wall, there is no comparison between the two. Arctic Dream is amazing, pictures don't do it justice.

  • Highly recommend!

Both the mag and piezo tones are amazing - I constantly use both (stereo mode) with mag going through a Line, 6 Helix and piezo through "T.C. Electronics Body Rez". Sound engineers love the tone / acoustic is better than any hollow body. I also play an Ernie Ball JP 12 which is what drew me to the Majesty. My PRS Custom 24/10 rarely gets played anymore. I can get any tone / palette I need with the Ernie Ball guitars / no longer have to stop and change guitars for acoustic - can blend as needed hitch makes it an excellent tool for worship musicians such as myself....
