M-Steel Regular Electric Guitar Strings are made of M-Steel, short for Maraging Steel, is a superalloy used in high stress applications for the aerospace and defense industries. The wound strings are comprised of a patented Super Cobalt alloy wrapped around a Maraging steel hex core wire, producing a richer and fuller tone with powerful low end response. M-Steel plain strings are comprised of a specially tempered steel for maximum fatigue resistance. A patented winding of steel around the ball end of the plain strings reduces slippage, breakage and stays in tune better than conventional plain strings.

Ernie Ball 2921 M-Steel Regular Slinky Electric Guitar Strings Features:

  • Ultra high output guitar strings
    Constructed of Maraging Steel
Super Cobalt alloy wrapped around a Maraging Steel hex core wire
    Provides maximum fatigue resistance

  • And I thought they would never top the cobalts....

As reviewed by Roman Davis on 4/26/2014

I've been an Ernie Ball guy forever. They are on all of my guitars. Slinkys, then Cobalts, now the M-Steels. There was a difference i feel going from regular to cobalt that took a little getting used, but it is lees so going from Cobalt to the M Steels. I noticed right away the increase in both volume and sustain. I've put them on both Gibsons and Fenders and they just rule. No loss of tone or clarity after three weeks, and I'm not gentle with them at all. Great strings!

  • BEST Strings I've ever played

As reviewed by Jack Gibson on 4/22/2014

These strings gave my Les Paul a new lease on life. I've never heard my guitar sound so good, especially in the low-end and mids. I was a little hesitant to believe what the strings said they would do, but they really are louder, and more vibrant. Really addicting to play, my wife actually noticed a difference acoustically as well. I've previously been a D'addario player, but these strings are here to stay for me. Great job Ernie Ball...

  • Regular Slinky user - did not like the M-Steels at all...

As reviewed by ANDREW TRECHA on 4/12/2014

Picked these up from GC after signing up for the String Club. The sales associate, being the good salesperson she is, up-sold me on the M-Steels. I really wanted to try the Coated Titanium RPS strings, but they don't have them in stores, and I was game to try out the M-Steels. I've been using the Regular Slinky's for quite some time and been quite happy with them. They aren't the longest lasting string, but if you take care of them (wipe them down after use), they sound and feel great and last a reasonably long time. These M-Steels sound and feel like DR strings, which are my go to strings for Gibson guitars as they work better for me for the shorter scale length. On my tele, the M-Steels feel awful. The wound strings have a gripiness and roughness to them and the tension is higher and they sound harsh in comparison to the regular Slinky's. They are a very different sounding and feeling string. Some people may like them, but for my purposes, they just aren't going to work and will be taken off and replaced with Regular Slinky's. I think they'd probably work for me on a Gibson, but I no longer own one. I still ordered some of the Coated Titanium RPS sets to try, but I have the feeling I'll be sticking with the Regular, and less expensive Slinky's.
