Overview

Jam on and on (and on) with the same premium acoustic guitar strings that experienced players worldwide trust to keep their incredible tone longer than any other string available. Unlike other string brands, Elixir Strings coats the whole string. This protects not only the outer string surface but also the gaps between the windings where common tone-deadening gunk typically builds up in other brands’ coated and uncoated guitar strings. Anti-Rust Plating on plain steel strings ensures longer tone life for the entire set.

Who wouldn’t love more quality playing time between the hassle and cost of string changes?

Crafted to last, these acoustic strings constructed with 80/20 (80% copper, 20% zinc) bronze wrap wire boast a warm, robust tone that sounds "played-in" right out of the pack while still retaining a remarkably clear mid-range presence. The POLYWEB Coating brings a soft, slick, and fast feel to the playing experience.

For a more traditionally textured, “uncoated” feel, try Elixir's ultra-thin NANOWEB Coating. The 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with NANOWEB Coating, for example, might be a good fit, especially if you’re also looking for a crisper, brighter, and more vibrant tone. For strings that strike a dynamic balance between full-bodied tone and sparkling high-end clarity, our Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings deliver exactly that alongside our NANOWEB Coating’s more traditional feel.

I used these strings for about a year or so, and restrung my Epiphone PR-150N/A once after hearing that coated strings lasted so much longer than standard strings. They sounded just as bright and responsive as the D'Addario Phosphor Bronze Custom Lights I had previously used, but after a few months the coating flaked off and the strings discolored significantly. Overall I would have to recommend Cleartones for acoustic coated strings.

Awesome

By Peter

from Buffalo NY

Comments about Elixir 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with POLYWEB Coating, Light (.012-.053):

I started using Elixirs a while ago and really like them. They last a long time and sound great. It's true the coating will come off after frequent use, but they still last significantly longer than other strings without losing tone quality.

Clangy

By Kyle

from Bowie, MD

Comments about Elixir 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with POLYWEB Coating, Light (.012-.053):

The coating on the strings helps playability but when playing with a slide the coating interrupts the connection the strings have with the slide. The slide sounds very clangy and is very unforgiving. If you play with a slide get uncoated strings. The strings aren't bad beyond that.

Depressing

By Smith

from Clive, Iowa

Comments about Elixir 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with POLYWEB Coating, Light (.012-.053):

These strings sound great. You can't get a brighter tone. But they break like no other. My G has broken four times in two weeks. I haven't been playing too hard, there is a defect in the string. Even regular tuning makes it snap. And they don't sell singles so i have to buy a whole new pack. Buyer Beware.

Okay....

Comments about Elixir 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with POLYWEB Coating, Light (.012-.053):

These string are pretty good, I guess. Once you break them in at least. I had to get another pack because my g string broke the day I bought them. They last long, yes, but I think I'll stay with other brands of strings.

Comments about Elixir 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with POLYWEB Coating, Light (.012-.053):

I started using these strings when I got my D-15. They sound amazing and last longer then any other string i've ever seen. The tone and the quality of these strings are insane and in this case you definitely get what you pay for. I have tried the martin marquise strings which I will never use again. I thought they sounded pretty bad and didnt hear or see anything special about them. My guitar teacher back home uses them on his cheaper guitars. Also he recommended the d'addarios since I have heard that they are comparable to elixers. I was very dissatisfied with them and took them off of my guitar a few hours after I put them on. I feel that the ease of playability with the elixers makes it easier to play and more fun to play the guitar. They also sound more appealing to me. I think its a no brainer and this is coming from someone who has tried them all.

I've Been Using These for Years

By BK

from Orange County, CA

Comments about Elixir 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with POLYWEB Coating, Light (.012-.053):

They have great sound and I love the coating. They last a long time and stay cleaner then regular stings because of the coating. I've never had a problem with these strings breaking and I play hard. I would definitely recommend these strings and I use them on all my guitars.

'Nuff Said

By Melburn

from Chandler, AZ

Comments about Elixir 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with POLYWEB Coating, Light (.012-.053):

I have been using these strings on my acoustic guitars ever since I first (skeptically) tried a (seemingly over-priced) set. It's been over 10 years. They're all I use. I buy them for friends who've never used them before as gifts. They always comment on how good they sound. Nuff said.

Best Strings Out There!

By Newchinmd

from Olney, MD

Comments about Elixir 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with POLYWEB Coating, Light (.012-.053):

I used all forms of Elixir strings since they first hit the market. A friend and fellow guitarist gave me a set of Polyweb lights and I was so impressed by the tonal quality and smooth playability that I put them on all of my guitars. Currently the oldest set I have is 2.5 years and sounds just as bright, plays with the same ease and are so clean that they almost look new from the package. I've never heard of them "flaking" or discoloring. That sounds more like an environmental issue than a problem with the strings. Any string will corrode in too humid of an environment or if treated with any kind of polish or string lube. Believe me, I've had only immense satisfaction since I started playing with Elixir strings.

Disappointing

By Mike Garrett

from Gahanna, OH

Comments about Elixir 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with POLYWEB Coating, Light (.012-.053):

I tried these strings after reading so much about them. The bass (E) string broke when I put them on, and the overall sound was very soft, not bright like I'd expected. Overall, a tremendous disappointment. Save yourself the money and the trouble-I'll stick with Martin Marquis at half the price.
