The Electro-Harmonix 12AX7EH is a preamp tube that provides high gain with ultra low noise. The tube's detailed, musical tone rivals the most desirable NOS types. Unique spiral filament eliminates the filament-to-cathode induced hum common on amps that use AC on the filaments.

Replaced some of the JJ 12AX7s with 12AX7EHs. I find the EH tubes are a little cleaner and a little wider bandwidth. Since the V3m was designed for heavier saturation than I wanted (I want blues to hard rock but not metal), the EH tubes were perfect replacements for JJ's in this application. I also tried Sovteks and I found the EH's better for my requirements.
Dug my old Jackson JG2 out of storage, cleaned it up, plugged it in and was amazed that it still had crazy gain and cranked. BUT, I decided that after setting for 12 years, I'd throw in fresh pre and power amp tubes. Put them in, hooked up my pedal board, turned it on, I had to crank the master to 10 just to get some volume, put the old power tubes back in, same thing, put the old pre amp tubes in, plenty of power and gain. Guess the old saying, if it works dont fix it. I have 4 used 12AX7Eh's for free.
Good sound and replacements for bad tubes. I trust electro harmonix and use a few of their products. Definately a good tube for the price.
These tubes are EXCELLENT! I'm very happy with this choice. At this price for this quality, there really is no other choice! Thank you Guitar Center!!!
I put these in my Ampeg Superjet (SJ-12R) to replace the GT 12AX7 pair that came with the amp. I read the reviews and thought these were for me. They cause a completely unacceptable LOUD hum in this amp, so I am out some $$ for nothing. Can't return tubes , so I have to find a use for them. They sure won't work as pre-amp tubes, and they are too light for use as a paperweight! I put the Groove Tubes back in and the hum is gone. NOT RECOMMENDED!
I've had a Marshall Jcm800 50watt Giving to me from a guy who didnt play as much, and this amp has never had its tubes changed, when i threw out the old ones and put in a matched pair of these it was awsome, very tight warm sound with the right fuzz and little to no feedback depending on the guitar i highly recommend these tubes.
I am using a Crate Blue Voodoo Halfstack with the 50 watt head. I origianlly had Sovtek 12AX7WB in the preamp and Sovtek 5881's in the power section. I found it to be a bit shrilly...just too much noise. I tried some KT77's, too much bottom. Switched to 5881 and the Electro 12ax7 in the preamp and driver position and love it. I have my gain at 1 o'clock and it is almost too much. I can hit the super-driven Judas Priest or Fight and even the Megadeth gain( since Marty Friedman used these amps ).
Electro Harmonix is one of the best brands.....This tube powers you up with a high amount of gain and no fuzz at all or feedback. Its really good I recommend it
