Great Box if you have the money
The Metal Muff is the best pedal I've had compared to my Digi-tech Hot Head. It provides a very high gain and low end as well as ear piercing high ends. As with all Electro-Harmonix effects, this pedal provides an absolutely insane over-the-top setting for hardcore Metalcore or even Deathmetal. The Bottom Line: If you have 100 bucks to spend I would totally recommend buying this pedal. E-Mail me if you have any other questions, I will try to answer them the best I can.

dude, get this pedal
this thing is great, it can sound extremely metal but can also do classic rock. it has so many features to accompany any preferred sound. i was told that the boost is for soloing but it sounds terrible, although im a rythum guitarist just letting you lead guitarists know. i was very happy with it the day i got it. if you have the money and play rock or metal its definitely worth it.

An awesome pedal !!!
I traded in my boss metal zone immediately after trying this pedal in the store.(and it was well worth the trade)The pedal gives a greater range of distortion and when you think that you've hit its peak, just click on the top boost and you'll see why this is the master of all distortion pedals!!!

Post-Hardcore/Screamo/Metal kids DREAM in a box
I purchased this muff yesterday, and have not put down my axe since. This is THE epitome of a distortion pedal. It does everything, and quite well. Crank the gain on this thing, and not in your wildest dreams could you have imagined the smoothe yet destructive tones the MM throws out. Absolutely smokes everything else out there. This pedal has ZERO excess hum/noise. Even when fully cranked there isn't anything...No computer/solid statey sounding aural artifacts, no white noise screaming through your amp...nothing unwanted, period. I think another reviewer put it best, this is a Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier in a box, and for only a small fraction of the price. Buy this pedal, now...especially if you play punk/screamo/post-hardcore stuff. You WILL NOT regret it. Great value too.

Heavy
I got this when decide to play straight up metal like Lamb of God and stuff instead of playing Zeppelin like what my band usually plays. It does that better than any other pedal in its range. But thats pretty much all it can do. Mabey I should mess around with it more but it does what it is ment to do. Hardcore bassists/guitarists will love it, others not so much. Its called 'Metal Muff' for a reason.
