Okay, after almost 2 months I've been through the ESP LTD Elite St-1 Duncan top to bottom, in and out, front to back. This is a very well built, solid guitar and the maple neck and fretwork are perfect! With the exception of the bridge TB 5 pickup, the pickup setup on the guitar is really versatile, lots 'o very straty, bluesy, cleanish tones in there and with a factory volume kit installed, the guitar cleans up very nicely with the volume control. But, you gotta use the tone control to cut the highs down or risk shattering any windows close to your amp! I traded in a black 2010 Les Paul Standard that I really loved, but I needed a sacrificial lamb due to a lack of an endless supply of cash. I had a slight problem with the 5 way to start with but a bit of contact cleaner I fixed that issue. I also did not like the Seymour Duncan TB 5 in the bridge. The ceramic magnets are not my cup of tea at all, too bitey/nasally/shrill sounding. I installed a TB 4 JB that I had in an old strat and that was a GREAT improvement over the TB 5 by miles and miles. The TB 11 Custom Custom would have been a much better choice IMHO. Not sure why ESP chose the TB 5 because it's a bright pickup and with the Alder body and finished maple fretboard on this guitar, this is a bright guitar....soooo I don't get what they were thinking. Anywho, the Floyd Rose is awesome, the machines are sufficient but I prefer locking in all cases. The details on the fit & finish are excellent but my top doesn't look like the pics in the ads, the "Flamed Maple Top" on mine is only a little flamed but it's okay, I'm not that superficial. I've never been a big fan of finished maple fretboards but with some adjustments on my part (cleaning & care) it's working out very well. All in all this is a great guitar to add to your collection if you're looking for an all-in-one, do-it-all, working musicians gigging guitar! If it were stolen I'd hunt down the animal who stole it or buy another ASAP.
