Now don't get me wrong, this guitar isn't horrible, but there are some glaring issues.
Like a lot of the other reviewers mentioned, this guitar is going to be hit and miss. If you open up the box and the guitar is perfect, you're lucky.
When I opened mine, I was fortunate enough to get a perfect headstock, unlike some of the damaged ones some other guys had seen, but my M-15 had 2 huge problems.
1. The guitar shipped with a horrible setup. The strings were completely resting on the 1st fret. The buzz that created needless to say was horrible. If you're a beginner and don't know how to set up a guitar and adjust a truss rod, you'll be paying someone who does to fix it.
2. The cable input jack was loose. I plugged in, unplugged, and then tried to plug back in again and pop, in went the jack. I had to grab some pliers and pull it back out of the body so that I could reinstall the washer and nut that's "supposed" to hold it together.
That being said, once I actually got the M-15 playing, it turned out to be a decent guitar. Sustain for days. Super fast neck. Decent electronics. The neck pickup is pretty meh, so don't expect much. The bridge pickup is solid enough to get a beginner through.
So in the end, would I buy this guitar again? Probably not. For the pirce is it a good deal? I'd say yeah if you're willing to gamble. Realistically, if you're serious about playing, I'd spend a couple more hundred and get something really good.
This guitar is insanely awesome. It has a KICKASS tone for metal. It's really light, holds up VERY well during live performances too. I strongly recommend this guitar to anyone. If you're like me, who's short on cash, but still wants a quality guitar, this is the guitar for you! It can be a great beginner guitar, but even pros will fall in love with it. If you're contemplating on whether or not to buy this guitar, stop thinking, and go for it. You will not regret it!
I have one of these in the Black finish and it first, I wasn't too fond of it, but once I downloaded ESP's manual and did a setup according to their reccomendations, I couldn't be happier! I reset the intonation so that it would be adjusted for use with 10 guage strings and this baby sounds absolutely awesome! The stock ESP tuners keep this in tune with no issues at all and the LS-100 and LH-100 stock pickups are great. I personally don't see any need to do any pickup changes on this guitar at all, and I'm a player with over 36 years experience who currently plays in a Classic Rock/ 80's Metal Band. For the price, this has to be the best deal going today. I am now a confirmed ESP addict and am looking foward to adding more to my arsenal in the future!
