Overview

This special set featuring a 57 and a 66, comes in EMG's exclusive brushed steel cap giving them a sleek modern look that will compliment any instrument. The 57 is a true original, a bridge pickup designed for today's player regardless of style or genre. The unique combination of Alnico V magnets and steel pole pieces evoke an unmistakably PAF-like quality in its tone.

The active attributes provide the headroom and punch necessary to deliver unparalleled definition and presence. It is designed and voiced specifically for the bridge position. Complementing the 57 is the 66, a result of pickup design innovation inspired by the specific needs and requests of today's players. Alnico V magnets provide the warm, smooth mid-range and expansive lows while the ceramic pole pieces bring out the clarity in the upper register. It is designed and voiced as a neck pickup.

    Comments about EMG 57/66 Set:

I replaced the 81/85 set in my Epi Custom LP EX with these and they are much more to my tastes. I think hotter than the 81/85 due to the hybrid pole pieces. I recommend not putting them too close to the strings. I play heavy fusion mix from toned cleans to massive gain and these deliver the goods better than anything I have used. Not sure what the difference is between the Hetfield set but you cannot miss on these babies.

Besides the 81/85's these 57/66 Pups are the best!

        Comments about EMG 57/66 Set:

Put them on my PRS SE custom 24. The stock pickups were good but not spectacular, specially the bridge PU. Bought a set of Duncans JB/Jazz and they sounded ok but so much noise freakin noise!!! Put on the EMG and wow what a difference! And no soldering, sound proofing, grounding required!!! They sound like the 81/85's but with a different flavor. I play in a professional cover band that does everything from Classic Rock to Disco & even Mexican Cumbias!!!! I can get a lot of different sounds out of these PUs

        Comments about EMG 57/66 Set:

Replaced SDs in old Cort 24 fret with a small control cavity. Wired for two sep vols no tone cleans up nice. 57/66 is a wide range beast run into DR504 EL34 clone amp or SS digibox. Had to back off the amp gain to match active p'up pre-amp gain. The incl. EMG solderless kit works great lots of options for tone / vol. Lookin to run at 24V soon to really crank these monsters. GC 20% off not bad.

            Comments about EMG 57/66 Set:

These are as good as actives can get. I like active pickups. These are very good. High output of course and they do the high gain stuff like a champ of course. They also have a beautiful clean crisp quality to the tone. I'm not an active hater like some and if you hate actives you won't like these either. If you are looking for that high gain crunch with more versatility this is your pick up. They do have more of a PAF quality to them. Deep fat bass and sparkly top end with out being shrill. I like them better than the 81 60 for sure. I have no complaints.
