Small Effect, Big Range of Sounds

This effect is very unique. The Ebow I bought had the regular and the harmonic mode, which I use a lot. The only thing that I didn't like was the fact that it could've been made of more stronger stuff instead of plastic, but I take care of it pretty well. The normal mode gives you a regular sustained sound of any note you put, where the harmonic mode takes your note and makes it sound like a harmonic note. This EBow wasn't cheap but it was worth it for me.

99 bucks??!!

I won't go into the hap-hazard way the item was shipped. However, for $99.99 one would expect a nice tool to add to the arsenol. However, while the device does appear to work as advertised, the construction couldn't be any cheaper. You will feel like your going to break it simply by opening the battery door. Its VERY cheaply made and at $99.99 now knowing its all cheap plasitc, I wouldn't buy it again. If you drop it, its done for. This a $20.00 toy at best.

    I got the light gray eBow around 2000. After 21 years it finally went out. Got weak, the harmonic mode didn't work anymore. Oh no! What will I do without my eBow?! So I just bought the new dark grey version. Hopefully I'll have an eBow for another 20 years now. I really love the eBow. I've always used it a lot in my recordings. It has significant parts or at least a cameo appearance in almost every song. You can do a lot with it once you learn how to use it. You can get so many types of sounds with chorus, flanger and delay. The string guides don't fit it, but if you hold it right it will work on bass, too!

    Great for string sounds on leads. Looping is cool and have used on recordings to replace strings.. Wish more than one string at a time, but still cool accessory.

    Tried on several guitars and basses. Had difficulty getting the strings to resonate. I used a new battery. Not what I expected. I returned to my local Guitar Center the next day.

    I know the Ebow works on bass. Does it mater if the strings are flat wound or round wound?

    Roundwound strings are brighter, with more texture, and the Ebow can sometimes get a quicker response from them due to the slightly more complex harmonic content and potentially less mass.
