My Jamman Solo came in about 10 days ago and I'm very happy with my purchase. It took a few minutes to get the hang of it but wasn't too bad. I will be buying the external controller with 3 switches primarily for the "stop" switch because the "double tap" stop on the pedal itself can be a little confusing. This may be that I haven't had enough experience. I use the Band-in-box program to create arrangements and have taken BIAB WAV files and downloaded to the Jamman Solo. That works GREAT! I've got a 4 GB memory card in the unit which could give me 12+ hours of recorded material in 198 songs. More than enough for some pretty serious gigging. I noticed my playing skills have improved in just a few days (I've played guitar 37 years). It is helping my timing and allows me to practice improvisation as much as I'd like. It's easy to jam an hour or more on one loop. Where are you going to find another musician patient enough to do that? I recommend this product whole heartedly.

I was concerned that the sound quality of this would be a problem, but it wasn't. What was a problem is that you only have one pedal to work with and they haven't set it up in a way that it's reasonable to think you'll actually be able to control it with just that pedal. You have to tap it twice to stop a loop, but double-tapping while playing is sort of like doing that thing where you rub your belly and pat your head. If you mess up a loop, you have to hold the pedal down to reset it. Which would be fine, but when you press the pedal the loop starts playing again for a couple seconds until it realizes you're trying to delete that loop. So that's not cool either. I played with it for about 10 minutes and it's already back in the box to get returned. I might try their bigger looper with two pedals.

Confusion

By Ralph Todaro

from Ambridge, PA

I have done much research on this product. It was between the Jam Man Solo or the Boss RC-3, I chose the Jam Man Solo because it seemed to be what I was looking for. Where the confusion comes in, is when I went to register the warranty on line it tells me the product is discontinued. I have emailed the company and so far no results. I just bought the product on July 13, 2012. It should not be obsolete already. As far as the pedal goes, I do like it. Within a half our out of the box I was recording from my MP3 player and playing along with the song through my guitar amp. I was also laying down some nice tracks with rhythm and lead. The pedal is pretty simple to operate. I only gave it three stars because I have to find out what is going on, is it discontinued or not. I'll do another review on the pedal itself, when I find out. Let you know the results.

It works and sounds fine, but it's unusable with only one pedal

Must have

By Jim

from Phoenix, AZ

I went into GC looking to get the Boss RC-2 but the sales man put me onto the digitech. I am glad he did. This little thing is AMAZING and very easy to use. The 10 pre recorded jam tracks and 90 click tracks are worth the price alone. You will be building tracks in no time. If you are looking at this or the boss i will tell you what pushed me in the digitech direction. First, it comes with a power supply. Second, more memory. Third, cool tracks. Finally, i think the sound quality is better. I ended up trading the solo in for the stereo model because i was really getting into this looping thing and figured i could use the extra features of the stereo model. Both are great well built machines. If you are a developing player without a regular group to play with you MUST get a looper. They are so much fun to jam with and allow you to put your theory into action. Next to an axe and amp this should be one of your first gear purchases if you practice alone.

Awesome Looper

By Will Holmes

from Petersburg, VA

The man working at my local guitar shop suggested this pedal to me, and I'm more than glad that he did. As soon as I took it out of the box, I was laying down lines and soloing within minutes. Easy to figure out, but if you need more help, it comes with an in-depth manual that will explain anything else you need to know. The band loops are alright to work with, they really don't fit my style of playing, but I can still have fun with them. I highly recommend this to anyone. Well worth the price.

Simply awful

By anonymous

from Aurora, IL

This pedal is terrible. A rocket scientist couldn't figure this thing out. I followed the instruction book word for word, cover to cover, and it wouldn't even perform a simple loop. This thing might as well be a paperweight. Spend your $200 elsewhere. Go with Boss. They never let you down.

Lots of fun

By Jim Grill

from Yardley, PA

This is a great pedal for the price. It has some features that make it better than competing units of the same price range. The optional SD card is a real bonus as is the free software (downloadable from digitech.com). It makes it really easy to keep your stuff organized and backed up. I also really appreciate the ability to choose different time signatures (the competition lacks this). The instructions are clear and easy to follow. The jamman stereo has a few additional features that I really wanted after having spent a week with the solo. I ended up taking it back and coughing up the additional $100 for the stereo. That said, there is nothing at all wrong with this unit. It's a lot of fun and the construction quality is good. I wanted an XLR input for a microphone and wanted to be able to select loops via the pedals. That's the only reason I traded up.

I love it

By Corey Wolffs

from Oakland, CA

The JamMan Solo was the first pedal I bought after buying my Electric violin. Having studied classical music my entire life, I always wanted to know what it was like playing a duet or even a quartet by myself. The JamMan Solo was really an amazing experience after I recorded my first overdub and I've been playing with it constantly for months now. To add to this, being able to truly Jam at the tap of a pedal really has allowed me to experiment more. I would highly recommend this pedal for its ease-of-use, long record times, and, quite simply, its unlimited potential. Also, its smaller size is great for a crowded pedal board.
