    wow

    By Kimani

    from Cooper City, Florida

Comments about Digital Reference DRDK7 7-Piece Drum Mic Kit:

These mics are awesome. I turned on the channel for the kick drum and the instrument sounded like it was mic'd by an audix d6. I got a near perfect thump and beater click without eq and dynamics.

Very Good Mics For The Home Recordist

    By Peter Anthan

    from West Des Moines, IA

Comments about Digital Reference DRDK7 7-Piece Drum Mic Kit:

Like many people, I bought this mic kit after considering more expensive kits and I am glad I did. The four rim-mount mics do an excellent job handling the high SPL of close-mic'ing drums, the kick mic gives a wonderful, deep punch along with a nice "thwack" from the batter. The condenser overheads are clean and clear. I use the four mics on toms and an SM57 on my snare. I'm very impressed with the sound quality I get. The mounting clips are not well designed to mount to different rims, but a little heat applied with a MAP torch let me open the clamping "jaws" up so they fit my drums perfectly. No, you're not getting four SM57s, a Beta kick, and two 414s for $200. But you will get very clean, transparent, full sound to work with without spending $1000. Any kit in the "in between" price range is likely a waste of a few hundred bucks.

    Small Price, Great Performance

    By Oscar Amador Molina

    from El Paso, TX

Comments about Digital Reference DRDK7 7-Piece Drum Mic Kit:

I bought this set to mic my band's drums during live shows because I couldn't afford a set of Shure 57s and a Beta, the guy at El Paso GC told me these sounded good and I got them. Last week I had to record a song but the Shure set in the studio wasn't available so I took my mics just in case I needed them, specially the pair of condenser mics for the cymbals. The recording engineer decided to try all of them and he told me they were as good as the Shure mics he's got, I heard the drums I had recorded previously with the 57s and I couldn't tell the difference. Of course, you have to know how to get the most of them by doing a good job on the mixing console.

    Good for starters

    By Andrew Bennett

    from albany, new york

Comments about Digital Reference DRDK7 7-Piece Drum Mic Kit:

I used this set for a few years. I have a 6 piece drum set, so when I bought this set, I also bought a sm57 for my snare. I'm slowly upgrading all of my tom mics to 57s as well, and I just recently purchased a beta 52a for my kick. The condenser mics sound fine...nothing too special though. I've never been satisfied with the kick mic, or the tom mics. But they get the job done. I would recommend this set for the drummer who is just starting recording and is worried about being able to hear the entire kit.

Good mics, Be prepared to buy different mic holders

    By Bryce Stone

    from Fort Collins, CO

Comments about Digital Reference DRDK7 7-Piece Drum Mic Kit:

The mic set itself is definitely decent for the money, with the exception of the clips to actually attach it to the drum set itself. Immediately out of the box 2 broke, and guitar center and digital reference would not replace them because digital reference doesn't have replacements for them and guitar center said that it needs to be replaced from the manufacturer. If I was reviewing the mics themselves I would say 4 stars but with how much the trouble the clips have given me I'm only giving 2.

    Awesome Mics

    By Jose Nevarez

    from El Centro, CA

Comments about Digital Reference DRDK7 7-Piece Drum Mic Kit:

I recently bought these mics for my our band and i gotta say that i was impressed by the quality of the mics for this price. If you are looking to mic up a full band these mics do the trick for you can use the condenser mics to amp up either acoustic, electric guitar or bass amp. In other words you would only use five mics on the drum set and the other for a guitar amp and a bass amp how our band does it. This really saves money and the quality is really clean and sweet. I really recommend this for people doing small gigs for bands who have barely started or play locally a lot. We've also recently used the mics to start recording and what works best is using the full mic set to record and then adding your bass and guitar with the same condensers. Overall these mics are a best buy for the price.
