I bought this as a self taught(Using my Classical Guitar training), beginning bassist. For the price, it's a great package and well worth the money. The Guitar itself is nice: 21 frets, single pick-up and volume/tone knobs. The finish is good and the neck has a very smooth feel. The tuning heads stay in place and are easy to adjust. The Amp is quite decent with your basic controls, and gets modest sound and a lot of volume. The extra parts of the package probably won't get much use other than the cable and strap. The cable is very thin and with a more distorted tone a static-like sound comes from the amp it should probably get replaced. The strap isn't the best quality but it holds the guitar which is all it needs to do. The bag is very thin and I wouldn't carry the guitar in it without grabbing around it, but it works to keep dust off the Bass. The tuner's finicky but works fine, the picks are "mediums" and it also comes with adjustment pieces and instructions for fixing the neck(if necessary).

The axe isn't bad at all. I'm just learning bass from scratch so i can't tell you about slap and all that. The amp is ok for practice, kinda sad to look at, i have bigger speakers in my car. The cables are junk, buy some new ones, the gig bag, same thing, buy new if you want to carry it around. Tuners ok. Overall not bad for the price for a beginner. I will upgrade in the future. Thanks GC!!!

My Hubby has started teaching himself how to play the bass when he saw it he was so excited. He loves the way it feels he had one that was old and it didn't have the same feel because it was old and broke but now he has his own and he can learn and play away,

Comments about Dean Edge 09 Bass and Amp Pack:

Bass guitar unit is better than "good enough" however accessories enclosed in the package are of low quality. This particular order of mine came with the case badly stained with molds. I was impressed though on how it was resolved. This was a Christmas gift for my son and so far still working well!

          It does the Job

          By

          from Pittsburgh, PA

Comments about Dean Edge 09 Bass and Amp Pack:

The Bass is about as generic as it gets with it's 1 pickup and "hard to turn" tuner pegs. First off the plug to put the cable in would fall off and you would have to manually repair that hole. Also when the tuners turn they would snap inside and become loose. The only way to tighten them is to keep turning them. It sounds fine but it is for a dead beginner who never picked up a bass before. But it does work, it just needs fixed ALOT!

          For Begginers

          By

          from Spanaway, Washington

Comments about Dean Edge 09 Bass and Amp Pack:

Bass: Its pretty good, easy to play and comfortable along with the bonus of it being beautiful in red. The only down side I have found is bad fret buzzing, but raising the action helped me. Cable & Amp: The cable is thin but gets the job done, I would recommend getting a different one if you can, as for the amp its great for practice, not much else. Strap, Picks & Tuner: The strap isn't very comfortable, but hasn't broken, The picks are good and durable, easy to play with, when I purchased this pack the tuner was left out so I can't say much about it, but they quickly shipped me an upgraded tuner. If you're new to playing bass I would recommend this one, its cheap and good for practice.

          Great Starter Bass

          By

          from Wylie, TX

Comments about Dean Edge 09 Bass and Amp Pack:

I got this bass for Christmas, and I have played it every day since. It's a very nice starter package, as the bass is very easy to play and control, and the amp is pretty decent. I havent had any issues except that the chord is not very durable so the rubber split on both input ends, and that the bolts and washers on the input on the bass get really loose, very fast, so the amp cuts out a lot (very hard to tighten those back). the gig bag is fair and has stayed intact, and I found the strap uncomfortable so I switched it out with a fender strap that was softer (I recently broke my collar bone). Over all it's a very very nice package for the price and I would recommend it to a younger (or smaller) player, because I'm 6' with very long arms, so its a little short due to the fact that its a starter. Anyway, I love it. I recommend getting a different chord though.

          Great Beginner Bass Set

          By

          from Music City America

Comments about Dean Edge 09 Bass and Amp Pack:

This is great for beginners! It comes with a decent starter amp, a gig bag, a not-so-great tuner and a not-so-great cable. The bass guitar in this set is really what makes it beginner. It doesn't stick to one type of genre but really, fits any. Personally, with my liking of classic rock, it suits me well but there definitely is much better rock basses. The amp is definitely good for your house and maybe a garage band practice when turned all the way up. I myself haven't used the strap because with this i bought a planetlock strap (which is AMAZING!) so I can not tell you about the strap but it seems beginner quality. Probably my favorite thing about the dean edge 09 bass is that old style look it has from the bolt in neck to the fret board. I personally recommend the to a bassist on a budget and I also recommend you buy the garageband 10 pick set!
