I upgraded my throne from a basic Tama throne that came with my Tama Rockstar Custom kit, and what a difference this throne makes. I bought the Round version & I sit on this throne for hours on end. I feel no discomfort whatsoever. With my old Tama throne, it would be wobbly and I wouldn't feel any stability at all. With this throne I can spin around, move left to right and do just about anything and the throne feels secure. There are 2 cons though with this throne. 1.) It does not go low enough. 2.) The Top seat does not come off, so putting it in your Road case is useless because it won't fit. Other than the 2 cons, I believe this is one of the best thrones I have ever sat on. I tested all of the other thrones out in the store as well, Pork Pie, Pearl, Tama, Roc N Soc, and all of them felt wobbly to me where as the DW Airlift felt really secure...Don't take my word for it, go in the store and try em out and you'll see what I'm talking about

comfy, but huge and heavy. seat shape retention TBD

By Dimitar

Comments about DW Heavy-Duty Air Lift Throne:

pros:
very comfortable, stable, and well made.
cons:
- rather heavy, so a bit of a hassle to move around.
- the seating area is HUGE - an average man here and I use less than half of the seating area. time will tell how the seating shape will hold, given the large unused portion of the seat. also, due to size, need ample space to turn around, and some serious straddling game to sit behind the drums

"Not quite my tempo"

By Tanner

Comments about DW Heavy-Duty Air Lift Throne:

Like everything DW makes, the quality is second to none. The air lift feature is convenient and easy to use. My only critique is the weight and overall bulkiness. It's a touch on the heavy side and occupies a little more space than your average throne when collapsed and disassembled. Add the quad pod design and airlift feature to the DW5120 and I'll give it five stars.

Comments about DW Heavy-Duty Air Lift Throne:

This is a real THRONE!!! I hadn't tried it, but weighed the reviews & decided I wanted one. Also, because I know GC has a great return policy. Ain't no way this is going back. I've been playing drums for 50 yrs or so, and I only had one other throne close to this - I still have it. But this takes everything to the next level!!
I know there are some comments about the weight - but something as solid as this ought to weigh a bit more. I see it as part of the pros, not a con. This throne moves where it ought to move & doesn't budge where it's not supposed to move! Even tho' my old one is still great, this is so much better. It does actually improve my playing. You don't realize that even a little of your attention to your throne takes it away from your playing.
Can't say enough good about this! If I make it to 100 - I'll still be using this baby!! (Unless I can find a way to take it with me!! ;-)

This seat it sweet, works good no problems just not made for kids you must weight at least 100lbs to make it drop. I have the round version it's very comfortable. Don't know where your nuts go on that tractor seat.

Comments about DW Heavy-Duty Air Lift Throne:

finally upgraded my throne after a few years of contemplation . it was down to a roc and sock nitro or the dw airlift tractor ! I have some other dw gear that's great quality ! I thought spend a little extra get a little more ! the throne is heavy duty and seems built well at this price point I was a bit disappointed that the back rest was not included ! after trying it for a few days it is way more comfy than my old pyle ! number one complaint is when you sit on it and move around this thing squekes and cretches like crazy ! NOT A BIG DEAL UNLESS YOU ARE RECORDING IN A STUDIO UNACEPTABLE FOR A PROFESSIONAL PICE OF EQUIPMENT ! anyways comfort is there lets see if it lasts !!

Comments about DW Heavy-Duty Air Lift Throne:

I am a big fella' who was tired of seating which was inappropriately designed for average/small people. This throne fits comfortably and is easy to adjust the height for different uses. I use it for guitar & djembe, but am also using it for sitting at the computer. The backrest is definitely a worthwhile addition. Do yourself a favor and get some appropriate seating which is designed for function, not some foo-foo fashion statement that feels like you are forcing your size fourteen feet into your wife's fancy high heels then trying to go trail running.

Comments about DW Heavy-Duty Air Lift Throne:

very comfortable, great quality, this thing is a tank. I can go on and on about the pros of this throne, so i will tell you the one and only con that i personally have with this throne which is the quick spin it has and the lack of any adjustment for that. but with that said i dont know if any other throne have an adjustment for that. BUY IT! You will not regret it.

Great, comfortable seat! It's huge and solid. The seat easily comes apart for breaking down. Not sure where the other comment came from that says it doesn't. They must have a different throne.

      Very nice!

      By Alex Harris

      from Alabama

Comments about DW Heavy-Duty Air Lift Throne:

Hey, my name is Alex H. and here is my tale:
I recieved this throne a few weeks ago and have since, played and simply sat on the throne for many hours doing other things. This thing is NICE. It does not wobble or shift. The construction is super solid and should hold up for years to come. The Wide motorcycle style seat is the perfect throne seat for playing extended hours. Also, with the synthetic leather you don't have to worry about the "funk" creeping into your throne that cloth seats will attract. I also have a hydrualic (pneumatic) roc-n-soc throne with backrest (for about 9 years now). It has been good to me, but I knew somthing better was out there.
The roc-n-soc has a sort of hump in-between your legs, and I tend to lean forward when I am playing.. Therefore, after a few hours with that going on and it becomes a bit discomforting (to say the least). This throne does not have this problem at all, let's just say my load is well distributed. Also since the Soc is cloth now if I hit it with my stick all kinds of magical Funk nasty dust comes out, this will not ever be the case with the DW throne (yay, hygiene). The air-lift suspension helps ease the pressure on your back when playing for long periods also (always go pneumatic)

A great throne, a must buy for sure. The only down side is that the optional back rest is slightly crooked! not part of this particular product, I know But it still relfects upon it that's why I couldn't give a 10.
      Could be price more competetively

      GREAT DRUM THRONE

      By Matt-SNgSb

      from Brisvegas, Australia

Comments about DW Heavy-Duty Air Lift Throne:

I bought the bigger one with the back rest. It is very comfortable and great to use. No more pain in the legs or back for me. Although I got a bargain when I bought this the were getting rid of alot of stock and I got the for half price. I don't think I would have paid full price for it. But in saything now that I've got it and am spending hours jamming I feel like i should have had it from the start. Great throne!
