Overview

It has long been the standard kick pedal for the rock drummer and DW pushes the bar to new heights with this 5000 Series Double Pedal. Featuring a host of refinements and upgrades, the legendary 5000 line features a choice of drive systems, aluminum hex shafts, pedal plates and linkages, dual side adjusting hoop clamp, 101 two-way beater, and built in spurs. These pedals can be customized to fit the needs of any player.

Additionally, the Accelerator„¢ (AD3) drive system offers an eccentric motion that creates an indirect relationship between the sprocket and the footboard, increasing the velocity of the pedal by shortening the length of the stroke. It is recommended for situations that require increased speed and sensitivity. A single cast post on the remote pedal will make movement between the hi-hat and remote double pedal more fluid. Additionally, the Turbo„¢ (TD3) concentric drive system maintains a direct relationship between the sprocket and the footboard to provide a solid, powerful, consistent feel and response.

Supported by a footboard that's a dream for heel-down technique players, this pedal will accommodate the heaviest hitter or satisfy the progressive percussionist.

Comments about DW 5000 Series Double Pedal:

This thing makes you work too hard. This pedal doesn't translate to what I can do on other pedals, like my mapex falcolns double pedal. It burns me up faster and is not nearly responsive enough. My recommendations are go for either the mapex falcoln, the Yamaha direct or chain drives or the speed Cobras.

Comments about DW 5000 Series Double Pedal:

I bought a pair of 3000's to get by, and they play like my old DW 5000's. The 3000 uses the turbo sprocket....I don't like the accelerator sprocket; which is what they sell ya with new 5000's . If buying a set of 5000's; I would get the turbo sprocket.. You have to ask or you will get the accelerator. (Which you don't want!)
3000 have 5 year warranty like other DW's.

Way better price on 3000 series. I did my latest drum tracks with the 3000's. Also remember to ck your rocker hubs on DW pedals. They wear out!

    Biggest disappointment

    By Justin Navarro

    from Oxnard, CA

Comments about DW 5000 Series Double Pedal:

As a long time drum player, and playing with different styles, this is probably the most disappointing drum pedal I have ever used. You cannot get a precise adjustment with how badly designed the pedal is, and how complicated the entire mechanism is. You can play clean sometimes, but really with how bad the way this thing works, it is a waste. Your screws can come loose way too easily, to the point where it is unbearable to stop and adjust over and over. The drive shaft literally slips off, the pedal beaters screw themselves loose from the sockets. From a company as great as DW, this is a huge and absolute disappointment. If you are not going to play that much metal, or any styles with fast bass fills, I guess I could recommend it, but with how bad the build quality and design is, I still wouldn't risk it. So I would recommend a Tama Iron Cobra or a Pearl, because you can get those for cheaper and have less problems with build quality and design.

Comments about DW 5000 Series Double Pedal:

I owned a dw 9000 and liked it but it always felt too "light" for me. I by chance tried a 5000 at a guitar center and couldn't believe how much better the feel of this pedal is. I bought the 5000 on the spot and shortly after sold my 9000. The 5000 has a heavier feel which means it returns the pedals back to your feet faster after each stroke but it physically feels like it takes more force per stroke. I prefer a heavier feel it helps me play faster. Some may play better with a lighter feeling pedal in which case I would recommend a dw 9000. Both pedals are very smooth and I would suggest as with anything try before you buy.

      My Baby!

      By markus kemp

      from Baltimore

Comments about DW 5000 Series Double Pedal:

I bought this pedal long ago looking for an upgrade from my Sound Percussion double kick, and fell-in-LOOOVE!Previous to purchasing these, I heard a lot about them, so I thought I'd give'em a go. They looked like heavy duty pedals on sight. Had some resistance, but once I figured out how to adjust the spring tension they came alive. Responded to my feet well; which is what I need in a drum pedal since I have cerebral palsy. It also came with counter-weights, toe guards, magnets(don't know what for),and hex keys. My only problem is the velcro on the bottom of the pedals; It's annoying. I have to fight with them just to remove them, or adjust them to the bass drum. I understand DW's logic, but that was just a stupid idea. Other than that, love them. Highly recommend them.

      DW 5000 Series DP

      By Eric Opett

      from MD

Comments about DW 5000 Series Double Pedal:

I have played on many pedals and this pedal and the DW 9000 series are my favorite. I currently use the 5000 series and its very fluid and responsive. Soon to be buying a 9000 series. Watch out now for the new AD4 pedal DW just came out with! More features such as none slip pad instead of Velcro on the bottom on the pedal. Also the biggest improvement is their new "Tri-Pivot Toe Clamp" which doesn't damage your bass drum hoop, instead it had a rubber molded pad to clamp on to it. Fully adjustable and watch out for the AD4!
