  • A good compromise.

    There shouldn't be any controversy about whether or not flatwound strings are less bright than roundwounds. Quite simply, they're not. You have to weigh this against the fact that the smooth profile eliminates string squeak, reduces fret wear and increases string life. If you're playing jazz, brightness is generally not important. If you're playing Country these are probably not for you. Everything in between is discretionary. I've read reviews that claim this brand is gritty compared to others. Perhaps the grit was on their fingers as I found them as smooth as the D'Addarios I've used.
