Overview

EXP Coated Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings provide longer life and increased durability coupled with the brightness, clarity, and sensitivity you've come to expect from D'Addario strings. Here is how it works: An ultrafine layer of EXP coating is bonded to the phosphor bronze wrap wire which is then wound onto the hex-shaped core wire. The result is a built-in barrier against the corrosion and wear that can quickly sap the life out of your strings and your sound. And since the EXP coating is crosslinked to the wrap wire prior to winding, the strings sound fresh and bright. New-string tone lasts 3 to 4 times longer than traditional guitar strings.

D'Addario is the world's largest manufacturer of strings for musical instruments. Many top guitarists won't play any other brand. Regardless of your playing style, D'Addario has a set that's right for you.

I am an active musician who plays about four gigs a week. I have tried every string possible, and am constantly looking for new strings that have a bright acoustic sound and good life. My Taylor 314LTD came with Elixir strings and they sound great, but as soon as I put on the D'AddarioEXP16 I found the sound I was looking for. Thank you D'Addario for your efforts to make a better product, and thank you for helping me become a better musician.

I decided to give a set of these a try, and managed to break the high E string on day three or four. I rarely break strings, acoustic or electric, and I've never had a string break on me this quickly. The strings sound great, and have nice tonal balance, but I can't recommend them to a serious player. Breaking a string in a live set is inevitable, but I'll do everything I can to minimize that risk, and my experience with these strings has lead me to believe that they are more likely to break than other brands. I'm not willing to pay $13 for a set of strings that breaks in a few days.

Comments about D'Addario EXP16 Coated Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

These strings can take a beating and last forever. Traditional feel from the wrap wire coating. I have never, in my years of playing guitar, have busted a D'addario string. These exp16 D'addario strings are the only strings that touch my acoustic guitars.

Comments about D'Addario EXP16 Coated Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I found these strings and use them on all my guitars, I used to buy Martin's but now only Daddario last longer and the coating keeps them sharp. My hands sweat profusely which is very bad for strings. I use daddario custom lights on my Six and twelve string as well as my beater

The sound is okay. The high e string broke without strumming hard. I'm going to use Martin extra lights from now on.

Satifying Sonic Differences that an Engineer Appreciates

            By Eugene

            from Mesa, AZ

Comments about D'Addario EXP16 Coated Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I had a problem with how a lighter and brighter string was recording and sounding, especially the .010 e string. This took care of of the problem with a nice meaty D and G strings that do not over resonate, as they can do sometimes. I will give an up day as to how they sound after a month. The went on, and sounded like they were all settled in. I would recommend these to to anyone recording an acoustic electric guitar in my studio, Sound works Studio of Arizona, www.swsaz.com, here in Mesa, AZ, because these strings will give more economy to my clients in mixing because these strings sound well right out of the package!

This strings come standard of low end Ovations and Acoustic Epiphones. I have a hummingbird and these strings sound great on it. They seem to last a while too. Highly recommend.

            Worth the extra $

            By Steve Soria

            from Miami, FL

Comments about D'Addario EXP16 Coated Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

They really last and compared to other coated strings that I've tried, They last longer, sound and feel better. At GC a lot of higher end/expensive acoustic guitars come with these strings on them already. So, that tells you something. They are worth it. They sound the way the normal Daddario acoustic strings sound. Just like it says, they literally last 3 or more times longer lol, depending on how much you play. Awesome strings just like almost all D'addarios stuff. I've had a couple of these sets and the heavier gauge EXPs. They're always great strings. The thing that got them 5 stars is that even when they're super old, they sound awesome.Go for them if u got the $.

            Love these strings

            By James Coulter

            from South Boston, VA

Comments about D'Addario EXP16 Coated Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I typically use these on my Breedlove and can't say enough good about them. Their tone is crisp but not thin, they stay in tune well, and they maintain their tone for a good while (no set of strings lasts forever...unfortunately). I made the mistake of putting cheaper D'Addario EJ16's on at my last string change and now wish I had spent the extra few bucks for the much better EXP's. Don't get me wrong - the tone of the EJ's is fine (not as good as the EXP's, but decent), but I can't get the things to stay in tune for more than a song or two to save my life. I am constantly having to re-tune and that is something I didn't have to do nearly as much with the EXP's. Also, the EXP's last quite a bit longer. In my opinion, with the better tuning, tone, and increased longevity of the EXP's, you are not saving any money by getting cheaper strings. I certainly have not tried every string out there, but of all of them that I have tried, these EXP's are the best all around strings I've found. All things considered, they're a great buy.
