EXP Coated Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings provide longer life and increased durability coupled with the brightness, clarity, and sensitivity you've come to expect from D'Addario strings. Here is how it works: An ultrafine layer of EXP coating is bonded to the phosphor bronze wrap wire which is then wound onto the hex-shaped core wire. The result is a built-in barrier against the corrosion and wear that can quickly sap the life out of your strings and your sound. And since the EXP coating is crosslinked to the wrap wire prior to winding, the strings sound fresh and bright. New-string tone lasts 3 to 4 times longer than traditional guitar strings.

D'Addario is the world's largest manufacturer of strings for musical instruments. Many top guitarists won't play any other brand. Regardless of your playing style, D'Addario has a set that's right for you.

I am an active musician who plays about four gigs a week. I have tried every string possible, and am constantly looking for new strings that have a bright acoustic sound and good life. My Taylor 314LTD came with Elixir strings and they sound great, but as soon as I put on the D'AddarioEXP16 I found the sound I was looking for. Thank you D'Addario for your efforts to make a better product, and thank you for helping me become a better musician.

I decided to give a set of these a try, and managed to break the high E string on day three or four. I rarely break strings, acoustic or electric, and I've never had a string break on me this quickly. The strings sound great, and have nice tonal balance, but I can't recommend them to a serious player. Breaking a string in a live set is inevitable, but I'll do everything I can to minimize that risk, and my experience with these strings has lead me to believe that they are more likely to break than other brands. I'm not willing to pay $13 for a set of strings that breaks in a few days.

Great Tone, Better Longevity

By Pickin&Grinnin

from CA

Comments about D'Addario EXP16 Coated Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I've been playing for 15 years and dialing in on D'Addario Bronze strings as my prefered set. Tried these EXP's and have no complaints, They've been on my Ibanez for 6 weeks now and still sound like a fresh set of regular D'Addarios! Elixrs do slide a bit easier, but they have a tinny, thin tone that doesn't sound as natural, and the coating sometimes flakes off. Go with the EXP's for long life and great sound

A Bit Pricey But More Than Worth It

By Jeremy Bunting

from Charleston, SC

Comments about D'Addario EXP16 Coated Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I've been playing for a few years, and have used several different kinds of guitar strings. The problem is, I play very hard with a thick, 1 mm pick. Because of this, my strings usually wear out a lot faster than they should (I have to replace them every two months or so). I was reluctant to purchase these at first because they're more expensive than most strings, and I wasn't convinced the EXP coating would make a difference. But, I decided to go for it, and I'm happy to announce that I've been using the same strings for 7 months now and they are still working just as well as the day I bought them. Not only that, but the sound of these strings is much cleaner and brighter than any others I've used. Each note sounds so crisp and precise that it's hard to stop strumming. Simply put, if you need strings for your acoustic guitar, look no further.

Better Than Elixirs!

By j-meez

from Danville, VA

Comments about D'Addario EXP16 Coated Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I've been playing guitar for over 6 years now, and I haven't found a set a strings that I can compare to the D'Addario EXPs. They're much like the Elixir brand, but better! Elixir makes the Polyweb (thicker string coating) and the Nanoweb (which is thinner). The EXPs have a feel of the Nanoweb, but they're better value and I think they sound better as well. I haven't used anything except the EXPs for the last 2 years. Try them!

Came on my Takamine

By WCWedin

from New York, New York

Comments about D'Addario EXP16 Coated Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I picked up a Takamine acoustic guitar about two years ago and loved the sound of it. The original strings lasted me about 18 months of alternating casual and regular play, and they sounded great until the very end. I've since bounced between a few brands, but finally got around to doing my homework, and found out that Takamine uses D'Addario EXP16 lights on all of their guitars. I'm done messing around, and I'll be yanking the fairly fresh Martin SP's off my axe as soon as I can pick up a set of these.

Sound Good When Just Installed

By Gene

from Humid Houston, Tx

Comments about D'Addario EXP16 Coated Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I played D'Addario EJ16's for years before coated strings came along. In recent years, I made the switch to coated strings. I like the D'Addario EXP's sound when first installed. In a months time, however, they have lost the high end crispness. Granted, this is better than the two weeks I used to get from the EJ16's. Other coated strings I've used on my Taylor guitars lasted as long as a year before losing the crispness. In the long run, I think you're better to either get the non coated EJ16's and change them often, or spend more for the Elixirs that last longer.

Best Strings

By Dean

from Virginia Beach, Virginia

Comments about D'Addario EXP16 Coated Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I've been playing Guitar for 35 years and I have tried ALL strings for an acoustic Guitar and I've have played most styles of music. The EXP16's lights are the best by far to ME. People have different opinions about tones of strings along with the feel of the strings. The tone is balanced with great lows and bright highs. As long as you wipe your strings with a clean cloth after playing, theses strings will last.

These strings sound good and last weeks !

By Robert

from Delmar, NY

Comments about D'Addario EXP16 Coated Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I only rated as four stars because I have not tried every string out there. But compared to the Elixirs, DRs and Martin SPs I have also tried, these win out for ( natural) sound and durability. Corrosion never seems to occur. The price seems fair for the value received.
