  • The ultimate string for Drop A# and Drop B despite the title

As reviewed by Daniel on 6/4/2014

I have these strings on my schecter c-1 SLS blackjack tuned all the way down to drop A#, and let me tell you, despite being labeled as optimized for drop C, I don't recommend them for that tuning. 11-52s, 12-54s and 11-56s are better for Drop C, but for Drop B and Drop A#, you will not find a better gauge than these on a 25.5 scale length guitar or a 26.5 baritone. The tension is absolutely perfect! It feels like a 10-52 set in E standard with the E string tuned to D! Like with all D'addarios, they are bright, long lasting, they feel smooth and they absolutely love locking tremolos. I can yank my floyd rose all I want and it still will not go out of tune. Since D'addarios are bright as I stated before, they also remain clear under high gain, which I use my marshall JVM on the red channel with a maxon OD as a boost and a peavey 5150. Between the tuning stability, the tension, the reliability, the playability and the string life, you cannot go wrong with these for baritone tunings!

  • Great Strings for Drop Tunings

As reviewed by Allen on 7/6/2011

I bought these strings for Drop C tunings and below, and they are amazing. They have a lot of tension so when you drop the tunings down they don't get all loose and floppy like lighter gauge strings do. They stay bright and clear for a month, at least mine did after everyday of use. I wouldn't play anything above 1 step down because of how thick the strings are, but thats not what they're made so! I would recomend these strings for anyone looking for good strings for down tunings!h

  • Pretty good

As reviewed by Hector Cortez on 6/4/2010

These string are indeed great for drop C. They have excellent tension on the low C string for tremolo picking and other forms of fast picking, it also makes pinch harmonics a lot easier to produce. I've even tuned down to drop B with these strings and it still sounded great except for the .020 gauge 4th string because its not thick enough. However it DOES say Drop C on the package and it sounds great if you tune to Drop C and if that's your tuning then I definitely recommend these.
